What kind of ripoff policy is this? I paid for the pre-purchase with the promise that i could participate in all the HoT beta testing events…

So basically Anet lied to us to get money?

If you are eligible, you may be selected… Plus it doesnt start for another 2 hours.

If you are not a dedicated WvW player, you most definitely should not be testing it.

It can take 2 or more hours to update your account with a beta slot. Bought mine thru gem store in game and it took an hour and a half. It might be different if you bought thru the website.
I haven’t seen this on the subreddit yet so I thought I’d share what I just read on the pre-purchase FAQ.
“All accounts that become eligible by July 9 will have their free character slot applied by July 10. Eligible accounts that are upgraded with a pre-purchase serial code after July 10 will receive their slots on a weekly basis after that.”
Arenanet will also
“…begin refunding accounts on July 12, 2015, and approximately once per week after that until the first week of August. Once your refund is processed, it may take up to five days to appear on your statement.”
Refunds apply to purchases of the Guild Wars 2 core game where
“The core Guild Wars 2 serial code was purchased from buy.guildwars2.com or in-game and applied to your account between January 23, 2015 and June 16, 2015
The Heart of Thorns serial code was pre-purchased from buy.guildwars2.com or in-game and applied by July 31, 2015”

It says access to all beta weekend events, like the one starting tomorrow.

Key words that you missed are “Access to All Beta Weekend Events” if you pre-purchase H.O.T and this isn’t the weekend BWE yet. Aslo this WvW stress test was announced May 8th 2015 before H.O.T went on sale.

Anet didn’t lie to you to “get your money” , you just failed to read what was said.

The prepurchase gives acces to Beta Weekend Events, not stress tests, not closed betas, not ALL beta’s, just Beta Weekend Events, like the revenant test this weekend (tho its more a precursor to real Beta Weekend Events)

“Beta Weekend events” is not the same as “All Beta’s” , its an important thing to remember

The company should clearly state:

If I also knew that I’d only have access to some of the beta events, and not all, that pre-purchase decision wouldn’t have been made so lightly. $50 is a big deal to a lot of people.

The specific wording of BETA WEEKEND events ONLY. Should be very clear. People are paying hard earned money.

It has been explained 100 times already. Please search the forums and you will find everything explained.

It’s not a question of apologists clarifying on their behalf. People are pointing out the very clear announcements the company left on their site. The stress test (not beta, hence why they used stress) was announced before the pre-purchase and how people would be eligible. The upcoming beta weekends will be for pre-purchasers with the addition of the Rev/Stronghold which a bonus test

I preordered, and I’m pumped to play this WEEKEND. Most of us acknowledged what Anet posted. This seems like such a small thing to ruffle your feathers over. Pick your battles man.

Firstly, how is "Pre-Purchase Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns before launch day and receive:
Access to All Beta Weekend Events [and] Exclusive Title* poorly worded and misleading?

Secondly, they gave details on the format of beta’s back on May 8th here where they clearly stated they would be choosing who would be participating, just over a month before pre-purchase was opened.

It isn’t poorly worded, and it isn’t about what day of the week the test is occurring. It’s about whether it is or isn’t HoT content. The WvW map will be released with HoT, but it is specifically NOT HoT content. It is available to players who do not buy HoT, it is core game content, and it is not what you bought when you bought the prepurchase. The same with Stronghold… Core content. The Revenant, however, is HoT content and you are invited to Beta it this weekend with your prepurchase agreement.

Thursday is not the weekend, regardless of the content in the beta.

Not sure how this was a troll or mistake on Arenanet’s side. As has been pointed out many times in this thread, they were explicitly clear on what kind of access you would be getting.
