…then presumably you don’t get to then take your favorite class into the new specializations. Is there something else to do at that point, if you want to keep using the weapon you are using? I’m not really sure how that all works.

I don’t think any certain weapon is mandatory when choosing to slot any of the Elite Specializations.

What you can’t do is use the new weapon without the Elite Specialization.

Good luck.

this…you can still be a LB/GS druid, or a Staff Tempest, you don’t HAVE to use the new weapon

you can become a tempest and just use the shouts and the overload mechanic as a staff ele

or you can be a GS/M+F dragon hunter and have access to the new virtues+traps

Oh, that’s great actually. Maybe I’ll be a Staff Tempest then.

If you specialize, can you un-specialize, if you just want to run around as a normal Elementalist for a day, then spec back into your specialization?

Once it’s unlocked (however that will be attained), you can swap into or out of Tempest just as easily as you can swap into or out of Fire Magic or Arcana.
