This needs to change if this is the path that will be followed for future pre-rendered cutscenes.

Not only was it a completely break in continuity (daytime cutscene, nighttime mission) it was awful low resolution pre-recorded quality.

Perhaps this is due to compression methods, but this is NOT a new issue.

The exact same issue can be seen in the Destruction of Lion’s Arch cutscene, as well as the flythrough for the Labyrinthine Cliffs that can be viewed from the Zephyr Sanctum Model.

Perhaps there could be a new UI option that could be toggled that would allow the download of higher quality cutscenes in the future, this would let people save space in their install when using the lower quality if they want.

When i got into the beta and saw the videos i was also struck by how low of a quality they were..actually shocked….and that’s comparing them with cutscenes we already had..i just hope it’s a beta thing.

The quality was like that of a mobile phone video upscalled to 1080p and up.

All videos that they made have poor quality. Probably because it needs to play smoothly on many configurations and not all can handle HD content with high bitrate

In the beta I simply assumed it was because they wanted to keep the patch small. Since a beta is not a demo, the quality of pre-rendered videos probably isn’t important.

I call bs on this one since there is already cut scenes like this in game OUTSIDE of the beta scenario.

I’m sure they could handle this better than that. This was obviously a pre-recorded and preset cutscene that simple plays on cue. There needs to be a better way to have the same effect, while respecting the players own video/graphics settings.
