I heard non hot and f2p acounts can make revenant as long as its the first als they make and they also get the lvl 80 boost i wonder if the devs could confirm if its a bug or if rev is going to become a thing for free acounts and base game account prior to expac 2.

In preparation for xpac announcement perhaps?

ArenaNet seems to have a problem with how they handle account upgrades. When they held the first beta for HoT, participants were upgraded to the heroic edition.

They could be prepping the next expansion, or it could simply be a bug where the serials for free accounts overflowed, causing affected system to interpret them as regular accounts. Is the TP open? Can HoT maps be accessed?

If HoT does become F2P however, they could easily sell the extras like the revenant separately on the gem store.

Nope to all that. The only things available are revenant (but only for the very first character created on that account), and the level 80 boost (which you can’t use before hitting level 10). All the other f2p restrictions remain in game. None of the remaining HoT content is accessible.

I wanna make a bunch of free revenant accounts but I can’t imagine this is intended. :/

They’ve already closed down the level 80 boost.

Hello Tyrians,
We have temporarily disabled the Level 80 boost item to address an issue. While we investigate, players will still be able to purchase HoT and receive the level 80 boost item but won’t be able to use it.
Players who had just started using the boost to test their characters in the Silverwastes will be returned to their home (example: Divinity’s Reach for Humans etc) and the effects of the boost will be cancelled as if they had not yet used it.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we are working on this. We will update this thread when the issue has been fixed and the boost has been re-enabled.

There was definitely something funky. One of the characters on my account claimed to be a level 60 Scrapper, which as everyone knows is impossible. They’re probably tracking down this anomaly.
