Is it confirmed that crafting is max 500?
At the PAX South announcement for Heart of Thorns, Mike O’Brien promised us that the maximum level cap will never increase, and there will never be another gear tier added.
Saying there will never be another gear tier prevents the crafting from going up any higher, because there needs to be a new tier to craft if they want to put it up. So no, I think our wallets are safe.
My poor wallet…Its still damaged after 500 crafting, forget 600.
I’m not sure if Mike O’Brien said “never,” but we won’t be getting a raised level cap or another gear tier of Heart of Thorns, at any rate.
I don’t think they’ve announced anything one way or the other about crafting in HoT, but I’d be very, very surprised if they raised the crafting cap. 500/Ascended crafting is still extremely expensive, and if they’re not introducing a new gear tier, it’s hard to see what the point of 600 crafting would be.
I would be less surprised if they raised jewelery to 500, but it’s unclear what that would even be useful for.

They could actually add “Legendary Armor Crafting” and raise it to 600. With them including rare and exotic food in this last patch, I can see them raising jeweler and cooking to 500 at least as well. 600 for jeweler if they decide to make Legendary jewelry craft-able.

Jewelry I can see, but cooking? Food is expensive enough as it is now.
Thanks for the answers guys.

It was announced no increased level cap ever at an interview with Eurogamer. I think ppl are right in saying no more crafting tiers though. That would mean new tiers of mats and I think we have the right number atm.

Legendary jewelry would be pointless, as Legendaries are only there for cosmetic effect as a trophy of achievement. Legendary stats aren’t better than Ascended, they just match it.
What would be the point of Legendary jewelry if you can’t see it and it only matches existing Ascended jewelry?

Last Halloween did have some experiments in jewels that change character appearance. Whether they ever use this concept for 500 jewelry-making is anyone’s guess, but the tech for special effects jewelry is available, at any rate.

Is it? Unless the food is level 80, or possibly used in another recipe, I can’t give it away on the TP. Raising the cap might not be the answer, but it couldn’t hurt.

In one of the interviews they did explicitly say that beyond new legendaries and precursor collections there will be no other, unmentioned yet changes to crafting. I am pretty sure that new crafting levels, or even increasing jeweller/cook to 500, would qualify for that.
Remember, remember, 15th of November

i remember reading a while back on an interview that they plan to make legendary jewelry and armor – jewels adding smaller visual effects meant to compliment weapons and armor being obvious, very neat and flashy looking. Jewelry 500 might allow us to use the crystalline ore ascended material (which has not been released yet) and/or Xunlai Electrum Ingot (also not released) as ingredients for it.
As for food 500, we’d need some pretty spectacular and rare food ingrediants in order to possibly make a 500 recipe. (i think anet may be stretching its limits about now before they would have to delve into obscure food recipes) though i imagine its effects would be spectacular, like say some replicating current utility effects with another effect on top (say superior sharpening stone effect + 33% chance for might [5s] on crit) so that you can have double utilities.

And I shudder at the thought of the absurd amounts of rare and semi-rare mats that will be required for either, using the other 500-level disciplines as a guide.
500 chef would be good if it meant longer-lasting foods. And for something completely different, what about pet foods?
