Is it too late to ask for a refund?
I bought the Ultimate version for my wife and for me since this has been so far the most enjoyable mmorpg we ve played.
We get to play 2 hours a day to play with 6 to 8 toons each, ascended gear was a bit of a pain for all classes but we picked one and alts would run on exotics, but this 400 hero points thing was the final straw when we read about the amount of points per toon, but also the wvw points we had were no good now.
I’m sure a whole lot of people will enjoy the new content, we just don’t have the time for this type of grind, first reason we bought the game 3 years ago.
or I was not certain what I was going to say sorry… if I remember I will edit this.
Other people claim to have been able to get refunds for their HoT purchase by filing support tickets.

Thank you Ashen!
Please let us know what the reply is, horaxx, if you try to request a refund. I would consider it too, for pretty much the same reasons as you.
OP’s wife will soon be asking for a divorce after receiving such a crappy gift. be seeing you.
OP…please let us know if you able to get a full refund. A lot of people been trying to find out too.
yes i would like to know too
I asked for a refund already, the gating was a joke, and the amount of work to get a skill set that is ALREADY behind a paywall for someone who only does WvW (we are talking hundreds if not thousands of hours), I will not be buying another anet game, they have ruined any faith I had in them, the game was sold on the idea of play how you want, and that is no longer the case. WvW was always punished compared to PvE, and the xpack was a back handed slap to the face. I already unloaded my accounts of all gold and gear and gave it to my guild, I wish them the best, but I am voting with my wallet and will be uninstalling the game after this post.
When a game starts charging for things that affect combat, such as whole classes and new skill sets through the xpack, it’s a sign of a money grab and the game going down hill, I don’t mind charging for content, but not for things that affect combat.
TinkTink…pls let us know too if you were able to get the refund.
No, it’s not too late. I asked for a refund of my ultimate edition yesterday, and got a reply this morning saying that they had refunded the money and it’s currently processing to my bank account.
There was a thread yesterday of someone getting a refund and having their core account kept intact, so it’s something you might be interested in trying. Though seeing how they’re treating core-only gamers, it might not be a big deal to lose the entire account.
Funny, because they told me that if I was to be refunded my money they would disable my account entirely until I re-purchased HoT.

They have no right to disable your basic account, you are only getting a refund on the HOT expansion.
Particularly if you bought your original vanilla GW2 account, you payed for it, what right would they have to disable it ?
Even if you were a free to play player, the account should revert back to a ftp account as it was when you were a ftp player.
They (ArenaNet) need to make any refund details and the consequences clear for people.
That’s a scam you still should be able to access your normal gw2 account. I got my money back and I am able to play my gw2 account. When you request refund they will disable your HOT code.
knowing how much account bound stuff there is, if you did ANYTHING hot related, the only choice they have is to disable the account because of the Account-wide assets they have

That last thing, about putting new classes and skills (things that affect combat) behind expansion paywalls….GW1 did it, repeatedly. And it was pretty successful. It’s a standard business model across a number of mmos that I’ve played at the least. There are exceptions out there. I hope you get your money back, if you don’t like it, that’s fine but I personally think your expectations were ill informed given the mmo market and certainly not based on anything Arenanet has said leading up to the expansion. I won’t argue on the wvw point, Anet has intentionally been limiting wealth and other forms of progression there for reasons that aren’t entirely clear.
kitten it, might as well try,

What? You make it sound like elite specialisations give you an advantage over the ordinary specialisations. Which, in fact, they do not.
They aren’t whole classes either.
There are also a bunch of expansions from other MMO’s that introduce new classes and skills, are they money grabs too?

False, for classes such as Thief. It’s the only way to make the game ENJOYABLE and PLAYABLE. Seeing as Dardevil is pretty much an Acrobatics 2.0 Revamped. They could of just made the changes to that trait line and gave us something different. But isntead we are forced to get the Expansion or deal with the crap traits we have now.

If you purchased the expansion recently (last 30 days) it looks like they will refund it. If you pre purchased then you are out of luck it seems, see the below reply..
Thanks for contacting us.
We are able to refund an order only if it was purchased within the last 30 days. As this purchase for Guild Wars 2 was on 6/17/15, it is too old for us to complete your request.
If you have any questions please let us know.
The reason I wanted a refund is I play 99% WvWvW and I feel they have really butchered it.. so I’ve basically paid to ruin the only fun part of the game.
Really? So pre-ordering 30 days before release has screwed you over in terms of a refund thats crazy. So glad i waited and purchased on the 22nd now i have a few weeks to see what they do about the hero points if anything before asking for my money back.

Looks that way, I am trying to get them to re look into it … guess I should know better than to pre order things these days.
Please let us know if you get a refund. I know a number of people (most of my guild as a matter of fact) myself included, that want our money back but feel we might be wasting our time.

It should be 30 days after release !
I really feel bad for op and his wife, that’s a lot of money to spend on something they cannot enjoy. I hope you are able to get your money back.
I too am not enjoying the expansion but I still love my GW2 vanilla game and I definitely couldn’t bear to leave just now especially as I enjoy the silly season of Halloween so much.
I feel sure that Anet will adjust much about this expansion though as they do need all player types to fill those new maps. Not just the ‘die hard’ types. So I’m going to wait and see.

Will do I am not too happy with the response.
