Is it worth starting a new account...?

Hey guys, ok, there’s enough angst here there & everywhere already, so I thought I’d try & ask a more constructive question (hah!). Is it worth just getting a new account for the $50 asking price, rather than expand the existing one? The context I’m asking is for mostly solo, PvE players, who just want to level a new HoT char from scratch, experience all the content and just enjoy the usual leveling process and gameplay.

How many char slots do you get with the STD version? At what level does the new content actually kick in – is it available from level 1 or at least pre level 80? I guess learning the new revenant class would be good to do from level 1, but I appreciate that may not be most ppl’s 1st choice, especially guildies, power-players, PvP/WvWers, etc.

As a solo PvE, I guess I could trade/guild bank transfer most(?) stuff needed for leveling between the 2 accounts & I’m lucky enough to have several PCs laptops to trade stuff that won’t go in the guild bank. Does this preclude exchanging anything important to the new account/char I may have missed, from this perspective? i.e. will I hamstring myself for something obvious I haven’t considered…?

Thanks all & let’s see how long & how many responses before the first young cat pops up.

Eh. No one knows the answers to all your questions.

If you buy the standard as a new account, I’m going to guess you get the basic 5 slots, since it doesn’t come with another slot. The new content mostly kicks in for level 80s, (mastery system, new level 80 maps) except for stuff like traits which should be for below level 80s also.

I have an alt account. It has some drawbacks cosmetic wise (I don’t have all those skins from achievements or the gem store, etc) but it does have the advantage of being able to email gold and items back and forth (you get suppressed after 2 emails back to back though).

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Tx for that mate. That answers most of my suspicions. Failing an actual, proper upgrade becoming available at some stage, it may be the simplest & best option for ppl like me. I get to level the new class (mostly ‘naked’) from scratch & experience all the nuances. Now that I’ve almost maxed all races/classes on my original account (back from beta), I will prob appreciate the extra 4 slots + mules/space to try other race/class combos, or just to muck around with the char creation, etc.
