Guild Wars 2

This might be a silly question but I haven’t been able to find an answer yet.

For the last few weeks I’ve been preparing to craft Wupwup armor (perhaps a foolish task given the expansion, but I wanted to do it anyway). When I checked this morning, I needed to use a bunch of new mats, like Thick Elonian Cord. It’s really annoying timing, but it seems I’ll need to wait another 23 days before I finish making the time-gated stuff.

Before I commit to Wupwup, I just wanted to check – have they released new kinds of armor that’s better? Or are the pre-HoT ascended armors still the best in the game?

From what I can tell, there are a bunch of new stat combinations, and that recipes can be gained from vendors, chests and map completion in Heart of Thorns. Just thought I’d leave this in case anyone else had the same question.

There are a few new stat combinations in HoT. I cannot remember their names off the top of my head but most or all of them are four stat combinations instead of three. One of the new Ascended armor sets is called Maklain’s named after Maklain the Minstrel who anyone who were waiting for Mesmer to be released before the release of GW2 remembers. Maklain’s is Toughness, Healing, Boon Duration, and Vitality and recipes can be gotten through loot through Maguuma.
