I’v been playing in the beta a bit and something I have noticed is if you have more than 300-500 ms ping (which as someone living in Australia I normally always have) it is impossible to make most intended gliding jumps and I end up slamming into cliff faces just below the intended landing.

I don’t know how this could be resolved, but the amount of ping before it becomes impossible is reasonably low and its a serious issue as most of HoT requires gliding.

Wait until HoT releases. The lag will be real.

This is really terrible, and not an unexpected problem, since anyone with more than 200 ping had the same problem with the Zephyrite crystals. If something isn’t done to make things workable for us outside of North America and Europe, much of the expansion could be frustratingly unplayable.

I have been trying to think of constructive feedback to give on this issues, but without knowing how the internals of the movement system work, it’s hard to. The problem seems to come from dead reckoning, so perhaps a little trust client-side about where a character is supposed to be will be helpful for players with consistently low ping due to location.

Does ANET have any oceanic testers ?

That is testers who are testing new content with ping times similar to oceanic players. Either located on oceanic countries, or having their connection messed with in order to produce similar ping times.
