It took me a week
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6zkT2uZAGA – GW2 – A world of wonder
I’ve noticed the theme with heart quests is they simply are not present on end-level zones. Southsun Cove was a bit pointless and unoccupied besides the Queen of course and Orr is home to those who enjoy the champ trains/t6 mat farming. Anet did a fantastic job with HoT by keeping people preoccupied constantly while in the new zones.
It is fantastic to see someone who actually appreciates what they brought with the new expansion, after all… Anet wasn’t even sure if they were going to work on one.
The PvE areas of HoT are exceptionally good, if a little difficult to navigate.
The other side of Hearts is that many found them uninteresting or boring things you just had to do while mapping. they were not traditional quests. The kill X of Y and gather X of Y quests are there, you just have to identify them as such. Usually the number needed will change dynamically with the people near the event but effectively they are the same.
The new maps are quote fun to navigate but having to do metas for almost everything is just tiring, especially when you have to map hop to find a full map to do the metas on.
Adventures are really enjoyable though, I hope they do some more of them ????
The endgame zones are actually how it was originally intended. Hearts were added during development after finding that traditional players didn’t know what to do without quests. The purpose of hearts was to attract players towards events.
The highest level zone to have hearts is Frostgorge Sound. The three Orr Zones, Southsun, Drytop, the Silverwastes and all four HoT zones don’t have them.
Hearts are not traditional quests and in fact didn’t exist in the game at all until the 3rd beta. They were added to keep people to where dynamic events spawn.
However, the story quests are like traditional quests and many of the collections are more similar to traditional quests as well.

HELL NO!
storyline quests are NOT normal quests, if they were, i would had quit mmos a long time ago
storyline quests are (mostly) like mini dungeons: play this way..or fail
that “gather the pact” quest is prolly the worst of them: really long and annoying,
and BUGGY AS HELL
getting an error message after an hour of intensive skill spamming is NOT funny
i just dont do them anymore, rather have my toon stuck, than playing something like that

No idea what you’re talking about even a little. They play like regular quests or quest chains because they usually have multiple objectives and contain story. You kill certain things or obtain certain things or destroy certain things, much like a quest.
If you think the personal story events needed to be played a certain way, I’m not sure what to tell you. Because I’ve beaten personal story on every profession but revenant so far, and I’ve never had to do anything special on any profession to beat it. Saying that some stories have bugs is true. But then I’ve run into bugged quests in games too.
I can certainly see why someone might compare hearts to quests, excepting the fact that they’re always localized, and you can complete them many ways, even by doing a neighboring dynamic event and ignoring the heart altogether. Just the fact that most hearts can be completed incidentally makes them unquestlike to me.
However, yes, none of the later content has quests by design.
I still, however, have no idea why you’d have problems with most personal stories.
Honestly I wish they would make heart quests a training thing (Level 1-15 areas only) then turn the rest in to adventures. Would add a lot of longevity to the vanilla game.

In case there aren’t enough of these, count me as another player (completely new to GW2) who has been really impressed with the quality of content in HoT. The events are fun and rewarding, even if there are some issues with accessibility (i.e. getting into active maps and not getting ported out of them at inconvenient times!). The map design in terms of both layout and artwork is simply incredible – you really couldn’t have designed a better introduction to gliding than the Verdant Brink!

I think the hearts are basically player training. Trying to get players to stay long enough that they notice the dynamic events, which is this game version of quests and is what the game is built around, rather than running through a zone wondering why there is nothing to do. By the time you reach Orr they shouldn’t need to do that any-more.
I got HoT recently and so far I like the maps. I like that they’re multi level and maze like so you can actually get lost in them and the events are interesting. Once you know the area a bit you can get around very quickly with the glider. It feels like I’m actually exploring and learning about the area rather than just running from A to B on a pretty map. Not that the maps aren’t pretty as well, they are gorgeous and getting a good look at them is another benefit of the gilder.
I just don’t like finding some hidden thing only to get “kitten off until you grind out this mastery”.

try reading the thread again, because i already wrote why
i have played many mmos, and GW2s story quests are same level of difficulty , as
the dungeons in many other mmos
hell, the longest of them take as long, as a dungeon to finish too
theyre basically asking the players to solo hardcore content
PS try standing still, and just use autoattack, as hardcores claim you can do EVERYWHERE IN TYRIA
Makes a positive thread, trying to stray away from the negative ones
People stary fighting in my thread

I’ve played Lots of MMOs and I haven’t played any that are the same difficulty as dungeons in other MMOs.
There are differences in the combat system/style of an active combat game of any time, and a stand around a cast spells without moving game, that’s true. But beyond just knowing hot to move and craft, I completely disgaree. Most other games dont’ have solo dungeons anyway and you can take other people into your story.
So five people in a story vs five people in a dungeon?
No contest.
The story quests in GW2 are some of the easiest content that I, a very casual player, have ever seen in a computer game. If they come across as hardcore content to you it might be a good idea to ask for advice with your build or playstyle.

“play as you want”, it was in their frigging manifesto
if all builds /playstyles are not viable, even in the levelling process, i guess that
isnt true ?
if were all supposed to use the power builds, why spend resources on making the other ones in the first place?
try missing a dodge in the later story missions…you die
that is NOT “easy content”
that is RAID content

I’m not sure if this is trolling.. because story mode GW2 is super easy. Like.. one of the easiest MMO contents out there and I played a lot of them. Raid content? not even dungeon content compared to other MMOs out there.
Supposed to use power build? condi/tanky builds work. Even my mesmer with mismashed gear from story missions made through the GW2 story without issues :|

im at endgame in STO ..that is easier, than story missions here
raiding in DCUO is roughly on par with story missions here
try again
… When you say lots of MMO, I thought you meant WoW/FF14/SWTOR, because those market leading games sure have dungeons that are way harder than GW2. Neither are Aion/Vindictus/BnS/etc
Not sure about STO/DCUO though. If their endgame is easier than GW2 story… well, perhaps GW2 is too hard for your liking (As is all those MMO up there). Different preferences I guess.

i raided in wow, back in BC/WOTLK, even tanked a 45 min baron run
that was the absolute limit of my gaming skills and patience back then
even if i still could do the same, i wont
they can sell me pixels, that i enjoy here&now
not pixels, that i have to dig out behind tons of other pixels
I’ve done the story a ton of times on lower than I should really have done characters who were nowhere near as well geared as they could be.
And it never got hard.
If you die because you are swarmed by mobs like at Claw Island, it’s no big deal to just respawn and carry on.
If you really, really can’t get past something.. ask for help in map chat or guild.
“Play the way you want” shouldn’t be “I’m so angry at the world” or “I’m mad because I die all the time”, try “people will help me with my goals” and “a build and proper gear will make harder things a lot easier”
pve, raid, pvp, fractal, dungeon, world clearing, legendary questing.. Zapped!

I have missed those dodges. Still easy. I also play those missions in badly underleveled gear. Still easy. I dont use a power build while leveling because I just use whatever random gear happens to drop. Still easy. I dont bother to equip sigils or runes while leveling. Still easy.
….and I am not good at the game. Mediocre, I suppose. Terrible by some standards. I don’t have the rflexes I had thirty years ago, and frankly don’t consider it worth my while to up my personal game when I have seen my five year old niece beat content by pushing buttons at random.
If a mediocre, at best, player finds the game easy while leveling without a build, while using the supposedly weaker weapon choices on each character, with underpowered gear, without bothering to equip some categories of gear, all while you consider it to be raid level difficulty…the problem is probably not with the game.

If Strat runs represent the limit of your ability (they bumped that one back down to 5-man content as it wasn’t really “raid” worthy!), then I can understand your frustration. But I also have a feeling there are some non-skill-related things you can do to make this easier on yourself.
I noticed that the most difficult parts (someone mentioned the fight with the dragon on claw island – good example!) tend to be those scenarios where you find yourself battling as part of an army against either a massive opponent or large group of enemies.
Your first inclination might be to rush in and take the lead – after all, this is YOUR personal story, right? Don’t. Let the NPCs do some of the work. In fact, in the claw island example I have a strong suspicion you could literally stand back and do hardly anything to contribute and still win! But if you rush in and try to solo the dragon, you’re dead meat!
My comfort level with combat mechanics is a good bit higher than yours, but I definitely died trying to “win” on claw island before I realized I could relax a little bit and be just one of hundreds on the battle field instead of the main event!
If that still isn’t enough, bring friends! In fact, if you’d like you can add me to your friends list and hit me up in game. I’ll run it with you. I’m new so I’ve only done the storyline once so far. I wouldn’t mind running through it again. In fact, I think I skipped a lot of it and need to go back and check it out.
no thanks, ill just leave it , and play another game
GW2 has given me many hours of fun, if i try to push on beyond my limits, it will just
ruin my overall experience
sure, i want to progress my characters…but not at any price
when they make a new casual map, i will return, and play that
