Its Monday
Each week we receive no info it makes me wonder if we’ll see HoT before the Mad King.

News-day is ALWAYS Tuesday.
Wasn’t the spec teasers shown on monday?
I checked, and specialisations were revealed on Thursdays? Not sure about the teasers, though…

Don’t remember. But 90% of news things + patches have always been on Tuesday. Maybe it’s monday for you because of the timezone? not sure. Theoretically we should get a news thingy in 24h from now.
For most HoT specific things we have had teaser picture on Monday.
Articles/Blogs on Thursday and live stream on Friday.
During the Living Story it was usually:
Week A: Teaser on Tuesday.
Week B: Release of teased thing on Tuesday.
Week C: Teaser on Tuesday.
Week D : Release of teased thing on Tuesday.

We use to have Tuesday Newsday, but yeah it’s basically been Monday Teaser, Tuesday Gemstore, Thursday Article and Friday PoI.
Well some weeks were:
Monday – Tease from Anet
Tuesday (or) Wednesday – Article from a community/game website
Thursday – Official article from Anet
Friday – Stream PoI/Ready Up (usually about what was just revealed)
Please give us a keyring…
Would you prefer they give you info they’re iterating on, so might be changed or repealed altogether, or give you info when they have it?
Relax.

Relax.
Would that be a bad thing though? Look what happened with traits and such. If they gave us some info before doing it, it could have prevented some of the problems.

I hate Mondays.

The Mad King is stealing all the blog posts before ArenaNet can upload them. The new Halloween patch will have us fighting the Mad King in his realm to get blog post fragments!
In all seriousness though, I’m not sure you should pin your hopes on any information this week as there is a WvW stress test to keep ArenaNet occupied!
Yeah nothing on twitter get, we might be getting another zero-info weeks. Well they are doing the wvw stress test… so no info.

I would say seeing the WvW map in action for the first time is rather much info actually.

The new map is (last we heard) coming when HoT comes out. It is not, however, a part of HoT. It may count as news, but it’s not HoT news.
And before you (or anyone else) claims that it IS a part of HoT, I would remind you that even non-HoT players will be on that map when it goes live. ANet may want us to think of it as HoT content, but it’s really not. It’s a long overdue WvW improvement (we hope) that they’re just releasing in tandem with HoT.

log into ff14. nicest community ever, but bring up gw2 and watch the screen flood with lol and lmao because they dont understand how we have an expansion coming out and know nothing about it. they thank us for the new player influx though

Well we’ve already gotten info, several times, on the new WvW map. What we’re getting now is… I would say first look but they had a PoI of it as well. So I guess it’s more accurate to say, that some people are getting a hands-on but overall we’re getting nothing in terms of new information.

There is a rather large difference between having a full map with people running around in WvW as compared to a few guys running around on it in PoI.
Time will tell I suppose.

This is not even funny at this point. Especially since half of the content which is supposed to sell HoT could be just patched in in regular updates.

Simply the fact that ArenaNets announcement trailer for HoT at PAX listed it as part of HoT does make it part of HoT. Or do you have a source that this map would be coming our way without HoT, does not rely on any tech developed specifically for HoT etc. It may be free content, but it is content that as far as we know exists because of HoT, ergo it is part of HoT. The fact that it trickles through to the base game is happy accident, caused by their desire not to fragment the player base and likely some technical limitations.
Besides nothing is saying that they won’t incentivize HoT purchase through it, see the recent metamorphosis or Stronghold heroes into mist Champions for example. All the above points also apply to Stronghold btw.
Now whether you, or even most players perceive the Desert Borderlands as part of HoT is a whole different angle on this, however, anything included in the announcement trailers for HoT can factually be said to be part of it because it can be considered content enabled (probably both in terms of tech and costs) by HoT.

Indeed, which they said themselves.
But the forums just haaaaaaad to have an expansion instead and wouldn’t shut the kitten up about it.

I don’t care if ANet thinks of it as part of HoT any more than I care if Collin thinks he once lead a band of super heroes while using the power of the Moon Silver Crystal. Nor do I care if some of the tech in one is used in the other. (And that’s only guess work, by the way. You don’t know if it happened, or for which part it was developed first.)
I’m speaking from the Point of View of the player, and how it comes to us. The fact is that it doesn’t matter if I pay for HoT or not, I’ll still get the new WvW map and the new PvP mode. They are not “contained” as a part of HoT, though ANet would like us to think that they are.
If you wish to see them as linked, that’s fine. I’m sure ANet appreciates it if we do. It still doesn’t change the fact that the WvW and PvP changes are not actually included in HoT. They’re separate, and free to all players.

Except that this argument stopped being waterproof when most “Mist Champions” will be gated by HoT. I wouldn’t be surprised if they come up with something similar for WvW. For example through how guilds and guild halls interact with it in particular. Base game players could get reduced experience just as they get reduced experience of the new specialization system (by not having access to elite specializations).
You are right I do not know if Stronghold and Desert Borderlands, or even core specializations, would’ve come without HoT. But it is wrong to think they weren’t affected by its existence, hence why I wasn’t at all surprised when the Mist Champions popped up. Frankly ArenaNet seemed almost bit too generous with the freebies coming with HoT.
I wouldn’t even be surprised if part of the reason we now have mist champions is because of all the price controversy about HoT :P In other words because they felt pressure to add more value to the expansion or realized how much of the content they announced as part of it they were giving away for free.

I suspect the reason for the lack of noise yesterday was because 4 July landed on a Saturday, so it was possibly a Bank Holiday Weekend for the US. I couldn’t tell for sure as I’m from the UK.

Wow. That’s the most stupid thing I’ve heard today. People wanted an expansion because expansions are typically LOTS OF NEW CONTENT. That’s what people wanted LOTS OF CONTENT, this isn’t hard to understand. It was clear living world was drip feeding stuff, but nothing like new professions or races, or dungeons, or a great number of things. Now it seems like the expansion is following suit, even anet themselves have said it will essentially be light on content as it’s meant to implement the groundwork for future expansions (Probably something they should have done two years ago). That isn’t what people expect from an expansion. And on top of that the lack of information is making it appear as if there’s not even anything for them to show us.

There are three mist champions. One is exclusive to people who own HoT. Please explain how 1 out of 3 is “most”.

Pretty much my same thoughts ^

Please pay attention, I said most will be, not most are… as in in the future, ie. champions that we either do not know of yet or don’t exist yet. Since there is no incentive for them to release any champions available in the core game after HoT is out. If you want to think that the updates that were announced with it and are clearly prerequisites or in preparation for HoT as not part of it, feel free to then also think all content updates after HoT to be part of it then even if we don’t know of them yet.
ArenaNet has zero incentive to provide any content updates for people with only the base game after HoT, so in practice balance patches, bug fixes gem store and probably PvP maps, if any, will be all coming in there (few festivals too of course, but if last year is anything to go by that will be recycled). The trend here is obvious., they will have every reason to add more value to the expansion pack no reason to do the same for the base game without requiring said expansion pack.
Well – technically the expansions includes everything we know + ‘hard engame content’ (all be it we dont know what this is) +the next season of living story ( which people seem to forget about which includes a lot of content over the duration bridging between now and future expansions, WHICH you dont get in other MMO’s typically)
IMO its fine for an expansion, as its an expansion, that keeps on expanding. Sounds good to me.
Please pay attention, I said most will be, not most are… as in in the future,
I am paying attention, it would be odd if you had said “most are” because none are. Because HoT isn’t out. So all “will be”, you didn’t bother specifying between the ones anet have said exist and the one’s you imagined.

Except that I didn’t imagine anything, sure I don’t know how often they will be created but they did say this specifically: “Additional Mist Champions will become available in future live content releases and will also require Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns”
Elite specialization are developed they just holding back the release to push it back as long as possible to release it after competition release their expansion.

Yes, that’s what they said. But right now there are three mist champions, two are available to everyone, 1 is available only to those who own HoT.
The original argument, that “It still doesn’t change the fact that the WvW and PvP changes are not actually included in HoT. They’re separate, and free to all players.” which you stated does not hold water, does in fact hold water because we are talking about now, or at the very least at the point that HoT is released.
You can argue that in 5 years anet will give everyone an asura mount for pvp, but that’s not a kittening refutation of anything.
What you have at best is speculation. At worst the word of anet. For all you know the new pvp game mode may end up like courtyard, and never recieve any additions or updates. The point is you’re arguing with speculation, other people are arguing with evidence.
