I have to join an active map to get the meta on a HoT map done.
1 join later…
“You have joined too many parties recently. Please wait a moment before trying to join again.”
20 minutes later of trying to join Full Maps and I still can’t find an active map.
Arena Net… come on please do something about this!!!!
I really want to smash some baby Quaggan because of this crap that you require.

I’m sitting here on LFG for 15 minutes and I still can’t rejoin a party. What is this crap?
Doing stuff in HoT is such a headache.
Do something about this mega server BS so I can actually play the game in peace!

Even though the tone of your post is a bit dramatic, I do understand the sentiment. If you don’t use the LFG tool, the chances of getting into an active or organized map seem rather slim (depending on time of day or weekday vs weekend).
I also get frustrated when I’m in an empty map just knowing there are other likeminded players in another map enjoying the content I want to participate in with them, but unless they think to offer a taxi, and I’m fast/lucky enough to join the taxi, I’ll remain separated from the content I want to consume.
Valid complaint is valid.
The only thing that saves me sometimes is that I tend to use LFG less and guildies more. They get into maps, post something in guild chat and away I go. That’s how I got into the successful VB meta run just now.
A guildie posted in guild chat that it was going on and I taxied on them.
It’s another overlooked value to guilds.
On a semi-related note, I REALLY wish that ANet could find a way to allow us to preserve our map participation % between maps. It’s very frustrating after you’ve spent the last hour patiently doing event chains by yourself and maybe a few others, only to suddenly get the “Map is closing” warning and then everybody jumps ship.
It can be incredibly frustrating. From buggy server prioritizing, the LFG tool in the game being one of the worst ones I’ve ever used in MMOs, and possible bugs and connection issues on ANets end.
It definitely made my HoT expansion launch one of the worst ones I’ve ever experienced.
Though considerably improved when switching to the 64 bit client, that version is in “beta” and not encouraged by ANet to use.
They really need to make a revamp of the LFG tool as well as improvements to how the servers spread everyone a priority.
I’m actually very surprised that they seem satisfied with people rushing the almost unusable LFG tool in a desperate and sometimes vain attempt to get into metas like Dragons Stand. It boggle the mind.
Oh and even more boggling is how they tie meta progress to the MAP and not the player. Meaning a D/C or crash could ruin 1-2 hours of effort. Forcing the use of grouping NOT for the social aspect of gaming, but to try and hope to circumvent the terrible programming of the games server code. How THAT got green lit is a real head scratcher.
I think I read somewhere the LFG tool is built on top of the in-game chat /invite command which gets halted by the spam detection system.
