Pretty much all the 2nd gen legendaries are a bit less flashy compared to 1st gen.

Less flashy? You sure about that?

Yes, I am. The effect is overtuned against big bosses atm which is the only “flashy” part and arguably unintended. Where’s the aura? The footfall? Looks like a normal stick when sheathed.

I feel the same with Astralaria. I was so disapointed to see only 3-4 traces left behind. I mean, 1st gen lasted forever. I would probably not have crafted it had I known this. On the other hand, using Axe #2 on ranger is nice.
Looking back, I should probably have crafted Nevermore, since I mainly play ranger, thief and revenant (which all use a staff).

Where’s the aura?
I thought instead of an aura like the Gen 1s had, they gave you like a “sleeve” effect. I remember seeing it for the axe and pistol. Does the staff not have one?

It does- it’s black feathers. Hard to see under some circumstances, but pretty cool when it’s visible.
I tend to think that the scaled-down effects are purposeful, and that Anet assumed players would do some research before committing so much time and gold towards making them. Each individual legendary isn’t designed to appeal to all players, and Anet knows that there are some players who love over-the-top particle effects/auras/footfalls while others prefer interesting design without all the flashy bits. Since the effects of each legendary are documented in wikis and youtube videos, never mind the fact of them existing in the game on other players, there’s really no reason for a player to not know exactly what they’re getting.

I was aware of the effect shortcomings before i started. i saw the videos. It is a Bow i wanted, so i crafted it. I knew going into making The Dreamer that it was a noisy sum-kitten, but i still made it. I just wanted to point out what i thought of the shortcomings hoping Anet would see it and count it with the others that have voiced their opinions. And hopefully do something about it

Y but the sleave thing is generally a lot less flashy than a lot of the 1st gen auras, which is all I’m saying. I like the skin personally and I’m making it.
Am I the only one who thinks the footsteps, aside from slightly lackluster, look backwards? Like, shouldn’t the wider part of the claw marks be facing forward, and the narrower part facing back? It doesn’t make much sense to me that as you step (assuming you had giant claws of course), your claw marks would get wider after the actual step. If you look at a feline’s paw, and look at their claws, aside from the times when they intentionally expose them, they come out when they put pressure on it, and retract as they lose pressure. So by that logic, naturally, the instant they put pressure on their paws (when they step), their claws are more widely exposed, than when they remove pressure from them. Of course, leaving a “scratch like” mark is not the case in real life when you look at feline’s footprints because they have them retracted. But since I like to nit pick, I find it rather annoying that the “scratch marks”, that are unrealistic to begin with, are also illogically backwards.
As for it not being as flashy as other legendaries, just look at Nevermore (and pretty much every other lackluster legendary like Ministrel, Flameseeker, etc.), they got updated with time, so I’d assume with time they’ll get the others up to par as well.
I play a fat thief and the footsteps are not noticeable. If I was not shooting tigers other players would not know I had it. The footfalls need to last longer.

Arguing for the sake of arguing again. When you look at many of the 1st gen weapons their footfall is kittenedly big, have a large aura, extremely annoying projectiles, etc. Basically the crap the OP was complaining about.

I agree that the HOT legendary weapons are lacking in the footfall department. The first gen like eternity are almost too long. Maybe they could meet in length somewhere in the middle. Astralaria is beautiful and is one of my favorites, I only wish they included some night sky with stars or something to had more height to its effect when the weapon is drawn. I mean you have tigers jumping in from above with the shortbow and a glittery unicorn with dreamer… The shield got reworked as well.

I disagree, “Never(gunnahappen)more” (as i use to call it.lol) is freaking awesome compared to “Bifrost”. So much better, that i want the new scepter to drop soon or else i’ll be making Meterolgicus and then get mad when a week later the scepter is announced, most likely. lol
The new legendaries look much better then the old ones, much MORE flashy then the old ones.

Yes, nevermore gives a sleeve of black feathers on your arm. If your toons dyes are dark you might not notice it, plus all the white birds flashing around might be distracting too.

I want the new Legendary long bow to have visible awesome projectiles like the dreamer please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Godzilla fire breathing dragon Mosnters for the long bow! please lol

There were a lot of complaints about too flashy footfalls and effects years ago so they tuned it down a bit. I think it’s rather good. I have 7 legendaries and Astralaria and Nevermore are among the ones I love the most.

I guess it’s one of those “cant please everyone all the time” things. what i love most about my Kudzu? the LONG trail of footfalls!! lol what i dislike most about Chuka Champawat? The utter measly and short (3 footsteps, fading starting almost immediately) footfalls.
Oh well, gonna have to live with it i guess

The footfalls aren’t from a “walking cat.” It’s an odd choice but it’s basically… like…. picture a Cat facing you and floating above you claw attacking the ground below you while you run… Or with this Screenshot picture yourself as the tiger clawing at the image. XD The Claws generally narrow as they swing downward. So that’s what I feel the footfalls really are.
And yes, they do disappear really fast and the projectile is pretty hard to see compared to the fire trail and fades away quickly. I still like the bow though compared to having a bad first impression from first reveal. But it could use some more work.
