Leave it to me achieve
I did it the first weekend without cheesing it. It’s all about properly using the skills and your dodges together in order to mitigate damage. Will it be fast? No.
Here’s a video of a group doing it without cheesing it.

When I did it solo, I killed the wolves that path near the veteran so I wouldn’t draw their aggro during the fight. It would be easier with a group as you all can share aggro.
On the plus side, even if you wipe, your progress is not lost as the HP bar doesn’t reset.

Adrenal Mushrooms definitely work on rabbits but they don’t function as a buff, it is just an instant reset on all skill cooldowns. The one that functions as a buff is the speed mushroom.
Various consumables still work. Best one is probably the flamethrower. If you go in with 2+ people you can also stun lock the alpha with consumables if you want …
I dragged the boss to the door and chipped away at it, making sure I rezzed quick enough to hit the boss so he didn’t reset. Took about 30 minutes and a hundred bunny suicides
Just did the instance again. The OP is wrong as the veteran boss does not reset; only the regular wolves do. Pulling the boss to the door doesn’t cause it to reset its HP either. Consumables still work as I confirmed fire elemental powders and pet whistles. I don’t think any type of weapons would work as experimental rifle was doing damage but the boss’ HP wasn’t moving. So I have no idea what the OP was seeing.

It doesn’t usually reset, but it can do it if you die and don’t get back into combat quick enough. I nearly lost it to a reset 20mins into the fight and just managed to salvage it.
Otherwise, you can fight it and the adds in the doorway as you say
When I did this one I was in a group of five people. We didn’t know about any of the cheese methods, we just ganged up as bunnies and were super careful not to rez the pact guy next to the health berries near the end.
And yes, it took a very long time, but as I recall we did one-shot it.
The flamethrower had a fire field and a blast finisher.

I was out of combat. Fought it near where it spawns, died, and then sat where I spawned for a couple minutes. The HP didn’t reset. If it resets then I’d consider that to be a bug.
Hmmm. Ill give it a try again. He definitely reset on me, perhaps a bug. Also for sure he wouldn’t follow me to the door; if he did I could see chipping away at it. I see about the mushroom. I didn’t pay attention to a skill reset, I was just looking for the buff. When trying the pet whistles as a rabbit I got a cannot use it message is there someone who can confirm that they could right now while solo?
The boss’s HP does not reset in this fight.
I tried to do it like you were supposed to but everytime we were about to kill our first wolf another one would enter the corner where we were and wipe us out. Incredibly frustrating. Eventually I just gave up and came back with fire elemental powder. Much easier

Yeah. I can confirm that he doesn’t go to the door. My best advice would be to hug the wall to the left as you go down and kill the single wolf that patrols that area. This wolf can actually be brought back to where you spawn. After that, this gives you the entire corner to work with when killing the veteran.
The whistles worked for me. I tried both them and the fire elemental powder.
I wonder if being a ranger has something to do with not being able to use the whistle. Cause if I can use that it would be tolerable. As I said, Ill check it again and report in.
The ogre pet whistle has a 30minute cooldown.
I haven’t got back in to try but ya I didn’t notice the 30minute cool down. That would partly be my problem. As long as I don’t have a reset issue, it may be less painful to complete this solo saving the whistle and powders just for the alpha dog. Thanks for the feedback.

I’d personally see if you can get a full party to go in who have those consumables. You’ll burn the veteran down in like 15 seconds. The consumables only got me to about 80% before they were killed.
