Legendary Light Armor Set style
I agree, but i would prefer a more thorny loock, vines crawling and similar, but won’t mind flowers. As long as it is sylvari – don’t want to look like a boring human
I’m sure there will be multiple looks for each race. I hope so at least.

It would be awesome. I’m 99% sure its not going to happen.

That would be truly legendary! Just like the gem store wedding dress!
As cool as it would be to have a different look for each race….I have to agree with Ardid that it probably won’t happen. At least not unless we expect to wait even longer. The amount of time it takes to create an armor of 3 different weights, then ontop of that add animation to it that looks clean, then making that “fit” all different sizes and shapes of the races….thats alot of time on itself. Add ontop of that making it UNIQUE to each individual race then making it fit all different sizes and shapes, that’s so much more work in trying to find ways to tie it into that race’s style. (Then going male/female too)
Edit: I mean if maybe that’s the reason its been taking this long so far just to get a “preview” and not even a final on the heavy armor set alone so far…who knows, but again I don’t think it will
Shatterer CC Lead, Mesmer ports, Raid trainings. I’m here for you all!
I would love to see more cultural armors for each races, that would have been awesome.
For me, most of the armor looks ’humanoid’ armorish and do not fit the other races except for humans themselves.
I only uses as for my Norn characters, their cultural tiers and Koda dungeon armors.
Same goes for my Sylvari characters, their cultural tiers and Nightmare dungeon armors.
etc.. etc..
As for my Humans characters, almost everything fits them so that’s no problem for them.. but then again, I’d love to see more cutural for each of the races.. it would def be more unique and look good.

Honestly tho I hope this was one of the reason why it was delayed for so long.
The Heavy set seems to be human style by default.
I’d really love it if the Legendary Light Armor set was sylvari themed.
Since it is animated, it would look cool if when unsheathing the weapon, flowers bloomed on the set, and wilted off when the weapon is sheathed.Your artists are very talented. I’m sure they can come up with something that is sylvari themed, animated, and phenomenal.
I’m sorry but everything is “human styled” by default. It’s designed on and for humans and then hammered into submission to fit on other races until it looks “good enough”. As a Charr player I’m not bitter at all over this
(Still I get your meaning and it would look cool indeed )

This is sadly true.
I know they will only release one look for the light armor set and I know it will be human :-(.
Was hoping to change someone’s mind with this post.
It would be cool to see something animated like the head armour on the Horus guards in the original Stargate movie.
Well… if they did then I’d be tempted to actually do Raids for it. XD
As cool as the idea of blooming flowers for a light armor set sounds, I don’t believe it’d be a prudent move to make any of the legendary armor racial in nature. I’ve already seen some complaints about how many plant-themed weapons and outfits there are in the game, and that’s just from random gem store additions. I can’t imagine how many people would be ticked off if their only option for a legendary armor was a plant theme.
Human-themed armor is basically the entire game outside of the other races’ cultural armor, so I wouldn’t really classify the heavy armor set as “human cultural”.

That’s what human by default means. By default most things in the game are Human styled. That doesn’t mean it’s not Human. It’s just the default. This is actually invisible to a lot of people because it is the default. They don’t see armor or architecture and think, “ohh, this is human”. But they do notice right away if it’s not human. This is what you call Human privilege, and it is invisible to people who are used to and/or okay with everything being Human. So because Human themes occupy most of the game, that doesn’t make it any less Human. It is the default, and everything shouldn’t default to human. Because there are 5 races in this game.
How about a nice looking Charr set?
How about a nice looking Charr set?
If the set is to truly be legendary, Anet should give us options.
I don’t think that’s a bad idea at all.
How you would you like it to look? what kind of animations?

3 out of 5 playable races are human-esque. Of course the majority of armors in the game are “human” style by default. They also fit on norns (which are just large humans) and sylvari (which are just humans with a different skin) without any tweaking required. Considering how much effort it already takes, apparently, to create armor sets, ofc ANet will focus on “human” style designs that will fit 3 of 5 playable races without any tweaking required. If they were designed around charr or asura however this wouldn’t be the case.

You’re mistaken. I think what you’re trying to say is which races are humanOID. 5 out of 5 races are humanoid. Each of the 5 races are culturally different. What I’m discussing here is the culture of the armor. Norn’s culture is very different from humans. The cultural look of norn and human are very different. So is the cultural look of sylvari and human, and even sylvari and norn. They are all humanoids, like charr and asura, but that’s as far as it goes. All 5 races are humanoid, only one is human. In every MMO, all the races are humanoid. I can’t even imagine a game that you will control a character that’s not some kind of humanoid. Maybe Goat Simulator, that’s the only thing coming to mind right now. But having all races be humanoid isn’t a good reason for all things to default to Human cultural style.
You do come across as if you’re equating skins in a video game with the considerably more serious issue of unconscious cultural discrimination regarding women and people of non-Caucasian ancestry.
It also feels like you’re using a very broad definition of what constitutes “human-themed” armour: namely, that everything that isn’t obviously themed to another race must obviously be human. I don’t think that’s accurate. Obviously, there are some human-themed sets, just as there are charr-themed, norn-themed, and so on. However, the majority of sets – keeping in mind that it’s well established in lore that sylvari do use more conventional outfits as well as the leafy affairs they grow themselves – appear to be intended to be generic sets that won’t appear out of place on any race.
The first legendary set of any given weight class is pretty much guaranteed to be one of these generic sets. You say that it would be cool for the legendary to be sylvari-themed: what about the humans, norn, charr and asura players who might want legendary light armour, but the only legendary light armour set available is clearly sylvari-themed? Would it be fair to any of those? I certainly don’t feel that it would be fairer overall than a generic set that isn’t specifically themed to any one race, but which on the other hand doesn’t exclude any either.
A bigger concern, in my mind, is that ArenaNet makes sure they avoid the common clipping issues, such as charr tails, asura feet, and so on.
(Regarding OriOri’s point: by “humanesque”, I think Ori is referring to the races that are effectively physical clones of humans apart from being bigger or planty. Charr and asura deviate from that template much more)
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
Well. The Precursor armor sets are already in the game. You can already preview them in your account wardrobe. Since the sneak peak heavy legendary armor is the heavy precursor skin with some added details and animations it is safe to assume the medium and light sets will also be the precursor skins with added details and animations. Thus you can already preview the armor and imagine added detail and animated parts and you get a good idea of what it will look like.

That’s exactly what I was getting at. Asura are almost humanlike, but Charr are definitely not
The problem is not only the shape (as someone correctly pointed before, Sylvari and Norn are truly human shaped.) The problem is the “culture” or, more accurately speaking, the aesthetics: “Human” in GW2 means “Krytan-styled” (Or something similar). 4 of 5 races have NOT Krytan aesthetics.
So yes. While it make some sense to design first an armor with a shape that can be used with minimal changes on 3 of the 5 races, it doesn’t make sense to design aesthetics that only covers 1 of the main 5 cultures in the game world.
Would you like every single legendary armor was designed to look Charr-styled, or Sylvari-styled? Personally, I wouldn’t have any problem if they made all the legendary armor Asuran-styled. But that would be really unfair for the rest…
If you have doubts about this, please try to make a decent Asura lab, or a Norn looking cottage in your guild hall. It’s impossible: every decoration is Human (Aka, Krytan) styled. THIS IS UNFAIR.

This is about armors, not guild hall decorations. And I still disagree that most of them are human styled armor sets. By far most of them, especially of those that were in the game from the start, are very generic sets overall.
If you want Krytan Styled armors, look at the human cultural armor and the stuff you see humans wear in DR/Ebonhawke. Very few armors overall have similar styles to this. Very few of them are Krytan style. More so than other races sure, but overall very few of them. Most of them are just generic
Good responses from everyone. Thanks for your posts.
I did what someone said and looked at the envoy armor. You’re most likely right and that it will just have details added to it.
Nonetheless, I stand by my point. I hope they release different skins for legendary armor in the future and the option to exchange one skin for another. Because I doubt i will craft a second legendary light armor set in a future expansion.
More options is better for all players.
I personally still believe the light armor Prec. Looks hideous- the Buttcape skirt thing looks like a fluffy pillow. When I compared the PRe. Heavy to the one in the video, it was identical, other than it transforming, which horrifies me for what the Light will change to.

lmaoo @fluffy pillow. It reminds me of the masquerade light armor set a little because of that .
Butt cape? XD
As for what animations for the charr set….some sort of mechanized animation would be cool.
Don’t worry, no matter what it will have a cute skirt on any race.
We could even get the Sailor Moon treatment and start with pants that transform by forming the beautiful clipping butt cape ^_^
legendary cultural armors would be eeepic
even T4 cultural armors would be really nice
i know Anet doesnt want to create too many new armor sets as it takes a lot of time but maaaaybe instead of 2 general new armor sets we can get a set of new cultural armor for each race with the next expansion whenever that will be?

Just throwing this out there. What if the light armor spawned a familiar of sorts?? From the chest piece on female, it seems entirely possible. Also with all lights being a mage of some kind, familiars would fit.

In case of legendary cultural themed armoe: I have an asuran mage, an human necro and a sylvary mesmer. When I want to swap the armor between them, it must swap the shape as well, or it might look crappy.
I really like the idea, but I see no solution for that problem without unlocking culture armor across all races. So, a generic armor it is.

You can make it switch to the proper cultural race armor when switching from a character to another, like the Wedding Outfit does. Skins are not real, physical objects you can’t change or replace.
