Legendary: Then and Now
The process from turning a precursor into a legendary (using the gifts in the mystic forge) will still be the way for the existing gen of legendaries. It may be different for the new ones coming with HoT though.

Alright then I will continue my work! Thank you.
From what I can gather its only the pre-cursor method that is changing, after the pre-cursor its still the same method to make a legendary, so it shouldn’t affect you.
New legendaries will have exact same end process of creation, requiring gifts of metal, meastery and fortune. Only “Gift of Legendaryname” will differ probably into more accountbound stuff than buyable on TP.
“He will improve everything that ArenaNet added to infinity and beyond.”

What metal gift are you talking about…?
Every legendary has a Gift of Fortune, Mastery, [enter legendary name] and the precursor.
No gift of “metal” or what ever.

I assume you never made a legendary…?
Either way, the old legendaries won’t change, neither the ways to get a precursor nor the process of crafting them, it’s only the new ones that will be slightly different.

False… The early teirs of legendary mastery let you train in making the first set of precursors. If you don’t have it yet DO NOT OVER PAY FOR IT. You can craft a single account bound precursor for each legendary once after HOT drops.
That’s for the new legendaries, with the option to do it for the old ones, too.
That doesn’t make my statement false? OP didn’t state whether or not they already have a precursor or not, they wanted to know whether or not it was worth it to keep working on the other parts of a legendary, and those will still be needed, as far as we know.
If it’s about getting a precursor, yeah, you’re right, but that wasn’t the question.

That’s a sub-gift, not a main gift… The gift of metal might very well not appear in any of the new legendary gifts.
The gift of Fortune and Mastery, will however.
The reason why is simple; they are item sinks. They are the best methods of keeping these items high in price and wanted. It makes zero perfect sense for them to be removed in the new legendaries.
So, OP, if you wanna craft already, do those two…
