Legendary Trinket questions/discussion
Someone that wants the aura or the convenience. Same reason anyone would go for a legendary item over ascended.

What if that collection unlocks other legendary trinket collections later?
What if that collection unlocks other legendary trinket collections later?
Doubtful as there isn’t a precedent for it… yet. Even if they did, the collections themselves have a very small cost so there wouldn’t be an issue in that aspect.
The price is way over the top for a single trinket…..
“but it has a killer aura, it is balanced” some will shout.
NO, it is NOT !
Whoever implemented it, take a queue from legendary armor, will you !
As it stands I will not make this, until the price is normalized.
This coming from someone that has made at least one full set of legendary armor.
HATE: Jumping puzzles.
DESPISE: TIME GATES, RNG & THE TRINITY !

Then they would have had to make the trinket collection more timegated to at least 4-6 months. Same as legendary armor, because that’s why legendary armor is so cheap (and legendary armor is dirt cheap gold wise). Oh and make it so only 10-20% of the playerbase have access to this collection.
Maybe they will add something like that down the line.
If the price is to high, don’t make the legendary. Same rule as every other legendary so far.

L-weapons are more/less available to everyone, whereas l-armor is stated by ANet to be one of the perks of raiding. So, as Cyninja says, legendary armor pieces aren’t necessarily a good comparison. Notice further that l-armor pieces use 15 clover versus 77 for an l-weapon. So it might be better to compare the cost of 5 armor pieces with one weapon. On that basis, 1400-1800g for trinkets is in the ballpark.
Even ignoring the above, cost isn’t the only determining factor. First, there are non-legendary items that cost a lot. Winter’s Presence is ~600g, Nightfury ~800G, koda’s warmth, 550g. And then there’s Queen Bee, the infamous Chak Egg Sac, and Vial of Aurillium, which cost much more. Those have no practical use, only cosmetic ones.
If folks don’t want to pay 1-2k for a legendary trinket, they don’t have to. There are plenty of ascended options out there.

It would be nice to have a stat swapping option that is not tied to more obnoxious effects and a 4 digit price tag though too.
I dont really mind the price, but im worried that i can only have the aura effect on one char. You can transmute exotic wpn with legendary wpn to get the aura, but you cant do the same thing with trinkets.

I’m having a hard time understanding this concept. 1 trinket = 1 piece of armor from what I can see, not a whole set.
Nobody ever has to craft it if they don’t want to.

He is comparing the requirement of Mystic Clovers between legendarys and mentioning that L-armor is heavily gated thus not a good comparison.
So we have collection for Legendary Trinkets, and someone has crafted them. But in the video it looked like there was only one of them. Can that really be right?
My biggest fear/grumble is that this is for a single “accessory” rather than a matched pair. Who in their right mind would invest in a Mystic Tribute for a single accessory?
Surely a matched pair makes a lot more sense.
From my POV, the cost for a one-handed Legendary weapon should be about half that for a two-handed weapon. A set of Legendary Armor cost should be comparable to a two-handed weapon, and a Legendary Trinket should be comparable to 1 piece of Legendary Armor. I don’t understand why they would make a single legendary accessory equal in cost to an entire armor set or a two-handed weapon.

Correct. The only thing that L-Armor has in common with other legendaries is that its legendary. Its the only one that’s gated substantially behind something that can’t be soloed. It’s the only one that’s stated to be a specific reward for game play. It’s the only one in which subsequent copies are made through an entirely different process.
L-Armor also takes fewer mystic clovers, which is the best indicator that ANet intended for armor pieces to be cheaper than weapons (and now, also cheaper than trinkets).
Aurora is comparable in costs to L-weapons, which given its aura, seems reasonable.

I got beef with it’s aura that cannot be turned off. I don’t like pink, i don’t want planets orbiting my head, i just want it’s practical aspect – stat switching on the fly. But seems that’s a no go, and it really discourages me from attempting to make it.
I would consider making one if i had option to shut it’s visuals off, for that there are legendary weapons and armors …and backpacks.
I have exactly the same problem as you ZeftheWicked. I made Aurora for the soul purpose of having the convinience of changing the stats.
Made all the legendaries available for my main character (necro) and with the exception of the water weapons, I changed the skin of all of them to match my view on what my char should look like within what the game provides (since I can’t change the colour of weapons or backpacks). But now I have this wonderful dark necromancer of a long lineage of kurzick servants of Grenth that dates from gw1, with a ridiculous blue-pinkish aura and floating balls on her. -.-
If the aura can’t be turned off, at least there should be a choice to dye it, no? =|

Legendary weapons have effects, Legendary armor has effects. You can only hold 1 Legendary weapon from which you get full effects, so effects are bigger and weapon costs more. You need a set of armor and a set of trinkets. So it would make more sense to have trinkets be like armor imo.
On a side note, if all trinkets have big effects and you get a full set of Legendary trinkets, what will that look like? Will the full set be cohesive like the armor sets? Are the devs designing the full set to go together or will the effects be a garish mess that all cancel each other out in a big ball of light?

I can understand the desire to “shut off” a legendary’s visuals. For weapons and armor, we can transmute them to other looks. Which effectively ‘shuts off’ their auras, animations, footfalls, etc. if we so choose while still retaining their legendary capabilities (ie – stat swapping). Perhaps a solution for those that want the ability to shut off the trinket’s affects is simply to allow transmuting of trinkets back to a ‘non-displayed’ skin.

So it would make more sense to …imo.
Sure, I get that you don’t agree with ANet’s choices. (I might not either … I’m still on the fence about it.)
My point is that there’s a reasonable argument to be made that the costs are appropriate, especially since the market just spiked due to this and other legendaries being added. I wasn’t so much asking anyone to agree with their choice as providing an opportunity for others to understand that there isn’t a single definition of “fair pricing”.

And I am providing a rebuttal to your argument
Maybe we’ll get the other trinket in LS4
The entire trinket collection is an excellent incentive and opportunity to revisit old maps, they should do this for LS4 as well.
For the Legendary Trinket not the price seems wrong to me but the fact you can only craft one trinket. Why only one? You cannot sell it. You cannot affect the game economy by crafting one for each of your characters. ANet encourages the players to set-up several characters. I will have 9 lvl 80 – one for each profession. And I want to give to each of them legendary trinkets – a full set of legendary trinkets. How long may take this? I don’t know? 3 years, 5 years? 10 years? No matter. This game will not end tomorrow and I will have a long term goal. But now? Only one trinket per account? I found this to be a bad joke.
I still think HoT Legendaries (outside the armor set which is fine) are much more expensive than what they should be and this trinket is no exception.
Given the fact that it’s only 1 out of 6 slots it should cost 600-700g at best, right now it’s more expensive than the Ascension and some legendary weapons which is not ok…
Can we please have a way to allow players to craft more than 1 of these trinkets per account? I want to have them on more than 1 character.

Or you know, make it a skin.

I think the legendary functionality is more important than the skin
The aura is the reason I am NOT making it. I don’t want an aura ( I can buy those from the TP), I want an ascended equivalent accessory I can change stats on when needed. Why would I make a single accessory that costs as much as an entire set of legendary armor just for the aura? I wouldn’t.

You should be able to toggle off the aura.
I made Aurora because I wanted both the aura (looks very fitting for a Mesmer, imo) and the stat swapping, but I agree that there should be a way to disable the aura. Legendary weapons/armor can be reskinned, and infusions can be eschewed in favour of plain ones, but there’s no way to disable Aurora’s aura.
