Less hostility if it wasn't Maguuma?

I think it’s alway a struggle between offering veterans familiar locations to rediscover and designing new areas to expand the world. I tend to be happier if the latter happens. Nostalgia usually wears off fast.
I’m not disappointed with the price of HoT because currently there’s no way for me to find out how much content HoT includes.
Maybe they also chose the Maguuma Jungle because they already did some babysteps towards developing it prior to Launch. We know for sure there used to be more portals in Brisban Wildlands in some early beta builds and there’s also Artwork from Ketai Kotaki that showed Jungle Dragons and Minions. And that was all done before the launch of GW2.
Dunno, it was clear from launch that GW2 has nothing to do with GW1 except some names. Lion’s Arch here never looked anything like the old Lion’s Arch for example. However, jungle zones are not something I’d get excited about in general. Maybe more players feel that way but I really wouldn’t know.
No, I personally wouldn’t care. I mainly WvW so my map will be free, I was planning on purchasing because I’m a long time customer (beta for gw1) and I believe in supporting those that appreciate my business, and also the specializations look like a fresh change. Revenant is a nice bonus too but I probably would have made one and rarely touched it like every other class I do not main.
Currently they have proven that they do not appreciate their customers, and they do not want me to buy the xpac. After all the one of the biggest selling points for me was WvW map, which I don’t need to buy the expansion to get.

Less hostility ? No idea. But for a return to the (whole !) Cantha or Elona I’d gladly pay 100 €.

No, not if all else were equal. I would have liked Crystal Desert because it has plenty of old lore and new potential combined, but also because it’s bigger. If they filled a bunch of the area that the Crystal Desert occupies on the world map, that’d be a decent addition to the game. I could say the same about expanding northward into Jormag’s territory and the Charr Homelands as well, and it’s also been a favorite speculation of mine as to what they could do if they expanded towards Janthir and delved into White Mantle lore. Beyond that, there’s the Ring of Fire Islands, though because of their small size and their location, any exploration/content in that area would/should/could include vastly expanded and revamped aquatic combat.
Compared to these, Maguuma does seem kind of small as far as map size goes, and I don’t see as many immediate, easy links to good plotlines that blend old lore/new adventures, but I do recognize that there is potential there. I’m also willing to believe that they could make good story out of it (possibly even leading in the direction of Janthir or Ring of Fire, I dunno). I do remain skeptical, though, since as much as I’d like to hope they’re hiding something amazing and huge from us that will justify full-game price, I doubt it. But although the choice of Maguuma is not what I’d have chosen, that by no means points to it being bad.
As far as Cantha or Elona… honestly, I wouldn’t complain if they did give it to us, but I see it as unnecessary, given how much content remains on the continent of Tyria.
nah, in gw 1 they announced regular expansions and we got excited for each one
this round it seems pride came into play with wanting to prove they can do it with just the gem store, and that’s when the head games began.
I personally had no problem with regular expansions, I respected that they run a business and needed to stay alive….
I could do without the marketing kittens though, they put themselves in that spot by trying to force a business plan that needed tweaking.
Dude, just release regular expansions and quit trying to prove you have the superior business plan ……..your fans love you….they don’t need all the extra marketing nonsense to prove your plans are working, they already worked and was a proven model in gw1.
So just plan on making regular expansions that will help you meet your quarterlies and make sure they have character slots for any new character you add. Don’t fix what wasn’t broken!

The verticality with the three biomes could make up for it.
I’m wondering if you would you have been less disappointed with the price of HoT if the area of the expansion had been set in the Crystal Desert (most popular area in the original campaign) or a small part of Cantha?
I’m not talking about size of the map or quantity / quality of the content, just location.
Although I’m still excited about HoT, despite the price controversy (I bought Ultimate), I’m still somewhat guarded towards returning to the least popular area of GW1. Poison, spiders, those floating degen mesmer squids… shudder
Nope I would have still reacted the same.
so what, if they had tried to throw some dust in my eyes, I wouldn’t have protested that I’m getting scammed… nope
