For those who have preordered HoT let us create our characters and save our names. I don’t expect to get to use the characters in the last beta, but it would be nice to play with the character slots we have and design your HoT character now.
What could making your character before release hurt if you cant play it yet?

There is no need for this. You can already design your character and save your name.

You can just create a character with a different profession to save your name. Write down/memorize/screenshot your appearance and recreate the character as a Revenant when HoT comes out. Good luck.

Don’t buy the upgrades for the placeholder character then… duh.

The way it works, Monk Tank, is you figure out the looks you like, document the sliders via screenshots that you save where you can find them again, and name the character the name you want to keep.

Then you let it sit at level 1, not even touching the tutorial. Which is just what you’re asking to do wtih pre-making a HoT alt.

When HoT launches, you delete the place holder alt. You then have 24 hours with that name reserved. During those hours, you remake it in your desired profession with the sliders you’ve pre-chosen, apply the name, and hit Create.

Voila, you have your HoT alt in exactly the same condition it would be if you were somehow able to pre-make it. Or are you asking to level it up sooner? For all but Revenant, you can do that now, exactly to your specifications (pun intended) and then add the Elite spec in once HoT is live and you have enough Hero Points.

You can do both actually,
I have a placeholder guardian to make sure my name is saved, bought bag slot expansion items and placed them in my bank ready for when HoT launches, plus a set of t7 trinkets and weapons ready for him as well. Not to mention a whole lot of experience boosters for mastery track leveling.
