I’m, at a point where I need to decide which masteries I want to learn and which i skip, since I lack the mastery points to distribute.
Leyline gliding costs 12 points but I’ve seen only about 3 mastery points that need leyline gliding to collect them, so far. Are there any more? is there any other meaningful use of leyline gliding or is this just poorly thought out?

It’s not poorly thought out at all. It is working exactly has designed.

Low level masteries are required for the jungle. Mid level masteries gain you access to vendors. High level masteries are mostly for convenience. They are meant to be acquired over the next YEAR, as such nothing is gated behind the high level mastery lines. They are for just a little bonus.

There is one area in DS that needs ley-line gliding to get to, and 2 mastery points that need it. Other than that it is just for fun.

Most things that require Ley Line Gliding can be skipped with a mesmer portal.
I can only think of 2 achievements that actually do require Ley Line Gliding (maybe there are more but I can’t recall now). Both are in Tangled Depths.

u need ley-lined gliding in Auric bassin too =) but a mesmer with the mastery is enough

I am personally taking all the “I can go _” masteries, and I don’t care about things like fighting a champion exalted every day. I’d rather have practical benefits of the masteries like easier travel in the final DS fight.

thanks for that info. I have everything unlocked but the last tier of each, so i might go aswell for leyline gliding if it’s convinience/fun stuff.

You can do 100% map completion, all achievements and mastery points on all 4 maps without ley line gliding, except:
1 mastery point in Nuhoch Lane – TD
“The Longest Glide” achievement – TD
“Pulse Room Glider” achievement – TD
“Highest Gear” achievement – AB
You can get a help from a mesmer for the mastery point and “Highest Gear”

I have Ley Line Gliding. It has certainly not been worth the cost so far. It’s definitely not value for labor.

Pulse Room Glider does give a mastery point and you won’t get it without Ley Line Gliding.

Still, it would have been much more useful to spend the points on Nuhoch or Itzel lore. If it’s working as designed, then it’s poorly designed.

I will say, adrenal mushrooms are hilariously fun to use if you are looking for a mastery to max out.

They are present at most of the boss locations and you can boost your dps from like 8k up to ~15k just by fighting near one. They fully reset every CD you have and respawn every 20s. That means you can use your most powerful elite skill every 20s if you are near one. And you can use all your utilities and weapon skills twice as often if you time it right.

You do not. I explored everything with just lean gliding. You get to that hero point on the west end of the map by getting up into the Tengu village and from there you go on a nearby tree trunk and jump lean glide to the opposite hill rock. From there glide again down to the cave with ancient golem hero point.
