Local Retailers - Canada
As far as I have seen, no one has found one yet. This may, or may not, change after release.
You might try contacting the CS Team, and ask for information, though they might not know, either.
Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion, it was a good idea. Unfortunately my reply from CS amounted to a very polite “We don’t know anything, please read the website and contact your local retailers.”
It’s almost laughable how pathetic this situation is. I love the game enough to keep looking for a copy locally, but its frustrating in the extreme to have to deal with this when it is not usual practice for the industry at all. I’d have no trouble walking into EB Games or Best Buy and getting my hands on pretty much any other AAA title, and even Steam has local currency options.
Read the red stickys on the forum they help alot

Search function have never and will never work on this homepage.
Unless they remake the whole forum.
A quick google search gw2 official retailers brings this up
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/retailers/#Norway-physical
And you cant select your country canda so that would have answered your question.
Linken, I have looked through the retailer list in detail.
For example, check the US retailers. Amazon and Game Tap are both listed as distributors of Digital Download copies. As of right now, neither site turns up anything of the sort when searched for “Heart of Thorns” or “Guild Wars.” On the other hand, Best Buy is not listed at all, and yet turns up a HoT purchase option immediately when searching the US site.
So forgive me for not fully trusting the list of retailers, since it appears outright wrong on incomplete in a number of cases.
I’m also trying to figure out why the heck buying HoT from Amazon UK in pounds sterling is cheaper than paying the exchange to ANet as a direct purchase, including shipping a box across the Atlantic Ocean and all of Canada to the west coast here. If ANet wants me to purchase directly from them, they’re doing a good job ensuring it makes absolutely no sense to.
IF they release the game in box version in Canada, it will most likely be available at Best Buy. I am not sure if any Game Stop/EB Games stores will order it for you, but it is a possibility. Amazon Canada may have the digital copy available. And yes I live in Canada.

Searched all the big game merchants in Canada and none has it for sale. Did get GW2 here during pre-launch. With the Can $ being so horrible now, the price of the standard version will cost me around $68Can. At $49.99 I found it expensive since I already paid for over 1/2 of the content, at $68+ its pretty bad.
Are there any plans to sell it in Canada?
bestbuy.ca has it… for $70
I’ll be dammed! LOL Searched the web almost daily, nothing ever came up. Tks
wow $70!
Our intricate system that’s made up of Strings, Beer Cans, and Whale Blubber that we also refer to as Canadian internet cannot handle HoT. There is hope, our communications companies are working around the clock to replace the string with fishing line.
High tess fishing line or just whatever is cheap/handy?
Depends on what Province you are in, Ontario, Alberta, and BC get high test, Quebec doesn’t exist, the rest will get regular except the Newfies because they’re to drunk to work the interwebs and google machines.
dear fellow Canadians,
for those who were wondering I just found out that BEST BUY is gonna sell the expansion on release date, but….be prepared to dish out extra $$$
The 49.99 USD is gonna be sold…69.99$ CDN!!!
thank you anet! (not!)
are you blaming Anet for the drop of the Canadian dollar? The Canadian dollar dropped pretty low and they would be crazy to accept your 50$ CDN (34 USD) for something they sell 50 USD
No kidding, that isnt ANETs fault. Get real.
Not A-Net’s fault, be glad you don’t live in Australia or New Zealand.
We are not friends.
Don’t get me wrong I love this game and I have been playing it since the first days of the original guild wars prophecies. I’m just disappointed in the way the expansion pre-purchased was announced and the little information that was given.
At this time I have no intention of paying 69.99$ for the expansion as it sits. its sad that these days its all about profit margins and not delivering the product to the consumer.
I hope that anet is gonna revise the way they do things, business and public relation wise.
IF any anet reps wanna reply , I would welcome your input on the matter.
you guys should learn a thing or 2 about economics and the retail suggested price.
You mean, like staying in business and not just giving away their product at a loss?
difference in exchange rate doesnt actually mean anything for sale prices directly :^)

Should Americans be upset that Europeans are paying €44.99 / £34.99 for HoT?
1 CAD = 0.7765 USD according to Google Finance at this exact moment.
Maybe take it up with Parliament?
lol, as a Canadian I just gotta wonder wtf OP how is Anet responsible for our dollar ?
One has to wonder … are you a newfie by chance ?
Got nothing at all to do with exchange rate…not exactly. At the current exchange rate, Canada should be paying $64 or $65 for the xpac…if you use the exact rate. They are bumping it up a few percentage points.
Sometimes it is cheaper to buy from a distributor in the US and have it shipped

And thats probabely the store that bump it up to get more profit for themselfs
Right now Bestbuy has 15% off if you preorder two games or more. If it happens that you plan to play another game, then after 15% off, it isn’t too bad.
In fact, if you are in Canada and you are interested in two upcoming games, I suggest you to do this preorder. There are two reasons:
1. If enough players purchase through Canadian retailers instead of purchasing through Anet’s website, then Anet will work with more Canadian retailers for future releases. Competition will then drive the price down, which will be good for customers. Right now the price is high because Bestbuy is the only retailer that sells it in Canada. If you look at other games that are sold by all retailers, you can see that the Canadian prices are often slightly lower than US prices after currency conversion.
2. The retailer will make some money. If more retailers stay in business, then there will be more competitions which are again good for customers.
The pricing is pretty steep I ended up paying around 65+ can’t remember the exact figure. For an expansion which I’m already starting to regret. I’ve purchased many other games such as Battlefield where I wasn’t hit with an exchange rate fee.
