Looks dissapointing
Hmmm hyperbole is hyperbole.
Sure, people asked for a new race…which would have the same classes….and no new mechanics
vs
- a new class with new mechanics,
- weapon specialisations being added to other classes
- redone traits,
You’ll probably have to explain the uninsulted among the players as to why Guild Halls being a major feature is insulting. Bearing in mind, it’s been a very much asked-for feature since the start of the game.
Couldn’t give a skritt’s backside about GvG
They explained why they don’t want to add a new race. It will be a lot of work and not really add anything to the game. A shoehorned early personal story, new racial armor which people will complain about, racial skills that won’t be as good as profession ones, and lots of clipping with existing armor. All cosmetic stuff with no substance.
Do we need more than 1 new class? And if specializations are how they intend them to be, we will be getting a new “feel” to all existing classes, which should bring back the feel of secondary professions (we’ll see if they live up to that and if they don’t outright make the base professions obsolete/boring).
It is annoying how some QoL features/things that seem like they should be in a feature pack are going to be behind a pay wall (precursor hunt anyone?). But, I’ll reserve judgement until they say more info on each individual topic. After learning about Stronghold, I’m pleased with everything except for it being thrown into the normal PvP rotation/starting as a 5v5.
Thousands of pages, huh? lol
And no one asked or a new profession? No one asked for new skills for their old profession? No one asked for new traits? No one asked for new maps?
I think some people don’t actually read the forums. Many things that have been asked for, including guild halls, are coming with this expansion.

Guild halls were something along with GvG that anyone should have expected DAY ONE with a sequel to GUILD wars. And were even promised by Anet tons of times to be in “future updates”.
This expansion seems more like a major patch with a new class tacked on.

I completely agree. This game has been out for almost 3 years now and they arent even giving out new races or a brand new continent that we havent been to yet. expecting players to dish out 40-60$ for a boxed extended geographical part of maguuma with one new proff…gimmie a break, thats a slap to the face to players who have put thousands of hours in. The released details of this expac so far are definitely lacking atm.
Not excited for anything but legendaries sadly.
i’m sorry you’re disappointed. ANet isn’t about to scrap this release and summon cantha and tengus within weeks though.
i, for one, am looking forward to it.
In all the suggestion threads since release I can’t remember a single person saying they wanted to further explore magguma.
That’s not true, I’ve been asking for exploration maps for a long time now.
Guild Halls is a “major feature”, this is beyond insulting for obvious reasons.
Clearly not obvious, because I’m not sure what you’re on about.
new racial armor which people will complain about
If they were to add tengu they’d 10 to 1 use the Charr body style… so yeah Charrmor and Tenmor? Tengumor? Either way a lot of unhappy campers.
Guild halls were something along with GvG that anyone should have expected DAY ONE
This argument could be made for literally every single current feature in the game.
with a sequel to GUILD wars. And were even promised by Anet tons of times to be in “future updates”.
And HoT doesn’t fall under the category of future update? Sorry I just don’t think you’re logically considering your words here.
I completely agree. This game has been out for almost 3 years now and they arent even giving out new races or a brand new continent that we havent been to yet.
And here is the real problem, you’ll never be happy no matter what ANet produces. Even if they did give us a new race or a new continent you’ll still just use the 3 year argument and say it’s not enough. It will never be enough for you.
The one thing I do agree on, as far as complaints go, is the map. I sincerely hope after three years we get more than just Southsun Cove and a slightly extended Maguuma. So far, how much they plan to add to the map has barely been mentioned. There is no way to know if they will add just a few more squares at the rate of about 1 per year, or if they will rapidly start pumping out maps and areas we can explore, but I would think that if they had big plans for more exploration, they’d mention it a lot more and not try to distract us with nothing but “Look, shiny new guy!”
The GVG thing is honestly a bit silly to ask for. Do you have any idea how tiny the part of the community is that actively and frequently engages in GvG?
There comes a point where resources need to be spend on things most people would likely enjoy. And that is not GvG. A group of people that would be better classified as a subgroup of the pvp community that really just wants large Team Deathmatch style arena’s.
Thousands of pages, huh? lol

Sure we should have expected it except that we were directly told it won’t be coming at launch and there were NEVER any plans to introduce GvG to this game. Anet said as much prior to launch.
I’m sorry that some people are expecting things Anet directly said wouldn’t be in the game. A bit of research goes a long way.
Thousands of pages, huh? lol

In all the suggestion threads since release I can’t remember a single person saying they wanted to further explore magguma.
You remember every single suggestion thread?
Thousands of pages of people asking for a new race, tengu, etc… And we get nothing.
Good. Races don’t add much to the game, too much effort for no gain.
One new class.
And a specialization for each of the other ones. I call that nice.
Guild Halls is a “major feature”, this is beyond insulting for obvious reasons.
Not obvious. People asked for, now it’s in, what’s the problem?
And still no proper GvG?
Define “proper”? Guilds will be able to queue for PVP as “guild teams”, so it’s actually proper Guild vs Guild (Guilds fighting each other) so what more?
The Pve aspect shown so far has been really dissapointing to me. But the key will be the price.
That will make the decission of to buy or not to buy.
Guild halls were something along with GvG that anyone should have expected DAY ONE with a sequel to GUILD wars.
Sadly the name GUILD WARS is given by the GUILD WARS between the major guilds of Ascalon Kryta and Orr and has nothing to do with player-guild-based PvP

expecting players to dish out 40-60$ for a boxed extended geographical part of maguuma with one new proff…gimmie a break, thats a slap to the face to players who have put thousands of hours in..
1. $40-$60? You have no source for how much the expansion is going to cost, no one does.
2. “Extended geographical part of maguuma” It’s expanded content, it’s a huge update, for the past 3 years every single content update you have received, you have paid NOTHING for.
3. “Slap to the face to players who have put thousands of hours in” no, it’s really not, you whinging over the expansion having a cost tied to it is what’s a slap in the face, for the past 3 years you’ve had the ability to play guild wars 2 for nothing other than the initial cost of the base game while also receiving updates that cost you NOTHING.
4. You have NO idea how much content is going to be in the expansion, we know we’re getting 3 biomes, but we have no idea how many maps will be put in to these biomes, each biome could have more than 1 map, we do not know.
So stop whining and feeling like you’re entitled to everything for free, A-Net put time and money into making this content for us, if you’re not willing to pay for it, then you do not deserve it.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
This is one of those threads where the word “entitled” would find fitting use.
Let me get this straight, screw Anets plans for the game? You just want what YOU want, don’t generalize and speak for others.
Also. WAIT TILL THE kitten thing is OUT before you QQ.

1. judging off of market prices for EVERY EXPANSION THAT HAS BEEN RELEASED FOR ANY GAME has always cost roughly 40$. I paid 30$ for every expansion of gw1 that came out so saying its not going to be around that price is a very misguided opinion based off of your defense of the product.
2. If i am PAYING for an EXPANSION, i as the consumer want my moneys worth. The living seasons have not lived up to their expectations. An expanded part of 1 zone is not an expansion, thats more or less a large update patch.
3. Reread number 2.
4. Again youve clearly skimmed through my original statement, i didnt say i knew anything i simply stated “the released details so far are lacking” keywords there are released so far* lacking* please read a dictionary and educate yourself the difference between the words assumption* and released*
http://i.word.com/idictionary/assumption
Not one time did i mention i am entitled to anything for free, i already stated if im paying X amount of money for an expansion i should be recieving X amount of content. the reason why this player base has dropped significantly is because thers is a lack of content after 80. If you deny this youre clearly looking a blind eye. If you look at gw2 competitors and compare 1st released expansions youll see there is a large difference in content released. This game needs more than 1 zone and an a proff is expects to have a long life ahead of it.
And still no proper GvG?
What is the deference between “proper GvG” and the new Stronghold mode? Just wondering…
Other then that… I really don’t care about new races. I’m just hoping that the expansion is going to fix few major flaws of this game. Masteries and Adventures sounds like a good start. And I really don’t care whether new maps are on this continent or the other.

I paid $20 for my first expansion of a game: “Warcraft 2: Beyond the Dark Portal”. Similarly, many years later, “The Elder Scrolls III: Tribunal” didn’t cost me as much.
And you paid $30 for Nightfall? Fine, more power to you. I paid $45, twice so I could send a copy to my brother so we could start playing games again together which weren’t Diablo II.
2. If i am PAYING for an EXPANSION, i as the consumer want my moneys worth. The living seasons have not lived up to their expectations. An expanded part of 1 zone is not an expansion, thats more or less a large update patch.
Then don’t pay for it.

GvG seems to be a moving target – people want what they could get before in GW1 which was 8v8 on a Guild Hall map where one side was defending and one attacking. Others want to be able to field basically their own guild zerg vs zerg or 5v5 arrangements.
Stronghold looks to be, really, a much more specialized form of WvW chopped down and rebalanced so it almost sounds a lot like League to me.

True enough. But we’ve already responded to OP in the most logical way possible. By derailing the conversation and talking about Star Wars.
Anyone got a count on the amount of posts nowadays that are just spoiled kids having tantrums? I lost count, guess this is how people who work in pre-school feel…

complaining while having like 10% of the information is really kinda dumb. Sure these few things you want might not be there or in the way you want but that does not somehow make the expansion bad nor not full of other content. As per races and cantha, there are statements on why both of them have not been added, but you can continue to hope beyond hope if you want or accept it and move on to enjoy what is coming.
The one thing I was hoping they’d mention as a feature for this is new crafting. I’ve seen nothing, however, about jeweler or chef getting expanded to 500 or new crafting tiers, etc. Maybe I’ve just missed the announcements, though.
Chef? Come on, we know Bloodstone Dust has absolutely no culinary applications.
None.
As someone who’s put much more hours into this game and stuck with it from near launch, I am pretty excited for the expack. You can say that some of this stuff should have been in game since day one, but it wasn’t. I was a little bit bummed out to hear we aren’t getting a new race, but there’s always a possibility in the future. Aside from that though This extension of the game has pretty much everything I could want. There’s probably even minor features/fixes in the ex-pack we haven’t even heard about I bet.
If you’re going to say that it’s just a patch with a tacked on Profession on it you’re leaving things out. For starters I’ll list what we do know is coming.
-Stability and Defiance Rework
-Better Designed Group Content
-A brand new Mastery System for PVE that will spread to old areas as well(Get gliders in Magumma too, and a new fix for the trait system)
- Specializations with new skills to old existing professions, also a weapon a new weapon that some classes could not use previously.
-New Boon and Conditions
-New WvW map
-New Spvp game mode (Stronghold)
-Precursor Hunt
-New Legendaries
-Challenges
-Guild Halls
-Updated Camera
There’s probably more to be announced but from the looks of it its a pretty juicy update from that alone. To me at least. Also it was also stated that this expansion was also about setting up frame work for future updates/expansions/Content.
Redgen Furyblaze – Charr Guardian – [SHD]Shade Warband – Tarnished Coast
Lerious Warhowl – Charr Warrior – [SHD] Shade Warband – Tarnished Coast

I forgot to add precursor crafting/acquirement to another post I made. Totally agree with you. When Colin and Mike began listing the features included in HoT I narrowed my gaze. We were asking for precursor crafting for years, it never materialized and now we get to pay for precursor adventuring. I’m glad its finally coming but it reflects how stale Anet allowed GW2 to become before work on an expansion. For all intents and purposes, HoT will be making up ground for the last 2 1/2 years rather than pushing things forward.

Obviously you never played GW1 otherwise you’d know better. GvG was massive hit with the playerbase and community. The way the games played out, the tournaments, the leaderboards, even how you could watch other teams play was masterfully done and underscored the game’s title. GvG should have been included at launch and was sorely missed.

i played GW1 and i know the amazing GvG fun and that many players wanted it back in GW2 – but this has nothing to do with the name of the franchise which is given by the great guild wars. It was a good feature that was gone in GW2 yeah and it’s sad that it’s gone … but if you expect GvG just because of the name of the franchise you don’t know the lore behind it.

This.
GvG was a big thing in Guild Wars. Frankly, I was a little shocked that they took this long to get GvG back in, and this doesn’t quite feel (from the information we have so far) to be anything like what I’d expect it to be, considering its GW1 treatment.
