I play on again off again, especially to explore the new zones. (I really like the new one btw). But I’m sitting on 12 Mastery Points now and don’t know where to spend them, mainly because I don’to go to the HOT zones all that often anymore. Please advise.

I have all Gliding.
I have all Nuhoch.
I have all Ancient Magic except the most recent one, since it only seems usable in Siren’s? (Then again so are a lot of them)
I have 2 of 5 in Exalted (Acceptance I think?)
I have 4 of 6 in Itzel (Poison Lore)
I have 0 in Raiding, because that’s never gonna happen.

I assume that there’s no point saving these for the expansion, because it will have its own masteries track? Anything above that you feel I’m missing out on? Thanks

If you care about elite specialization weapons, you can max out exalted. That’s about the only reason to go further on the mastery line.

The last mastery for Itzel (adrenal mushrooms) are useful but won’t be in the new expansion most likely.

  • Exalted 4 improves your rewards from the Octovine meta event.
  • Itzel 6 gives you access to adrenal mushrooms — that allows you to reset all your skills and the shrooms themselves reset fairly quickly. This makes them ridiculously OP in some fights, especially if you go solo. There’s usually a few near each hero point.
  • Ancient for Siren’s 1-2-3-4 is required to finish the story for LS3.6. The #2 skill is needed to finish map completion (at least, without help from mesmers), and that includes unlocking some of the mastery points there.

If you never go into HoT or LS3 zones, then it won’t matter and you can just sit on the 12. If you sometimes visit, then which of those is most useful depends on which zones. I hope that helps.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they added harmless things like those Adrenal Mushies to verdant zones in the second expac; they don’t affect gameplay enough (which is kind of a problem in and of itself) to be “banned” from the expac imo (as opposed to areas only accessible with gliding and required for the story, which would be 140% stupid).

My opinion on OP’s question? If you feel like Adrenal mushies would be worth your while, go ahead! It’s fun once in a while to notice you can double-up on an elite skill and long CDs ‘cause there’s one nearby, but except that lil fun part, I don’t really see the other masteries being THAT worth it.

If the OP has even a little time, I think it would be worth it for them to get all the “easy” mastery point unlocks to give themselves some more wiggle room. I expect a lot of “trains” to cover hero points & masteries over the next few weeks, as lots of people scramble to finish off key aspects of HoT/LS3 before 22 Sep.
