Mallyx and Contagion
I’m gonna laugh because there will be yet another profession that’s better at conditions than the supposed “master of conditions.”
I’ve actually suggested multiple condition based things that could give the necromancer a real choice, seeing as the necromancer should have really big and hard choices with a condition build. And currently we don’t. I’ve suggested a grandmaster trait that functions like Contagion but only while in death shroud. I’ve also suggested a trait that transfers all condition from your target to all nearby foes when it dies. And last but not least, I’ve suggested the disease condition since that was a really cool condition from GW1 that should be in GW2.
Well that is not the first time that necromancer gets the short stick. Remember http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Weaken_Knees and if we look how mesmer can apply torment better then necromancer it makes me kinda sad. And its not that other professions have access to torment, it is that necros can only apply it on a long cooldown, while mesmers get it on an autoattack.

Yeah, but technically necromancer have access to confusion (e.g. staff 1 though spectral wall).
It almost sounds like the Revenant might also be better and punishment and control than the mesmer
Let’ wait and see I guess.

that isn’t going to happen. The mesmer is far far better then the revenant sounds. My worry is that the revenant will become the profession that the necromancer SHOULD have been.

yeah, thats like saying that the color black in magic the gathering has access to enchantment removal through phyrexian obliterator . Although technically true, not a compelling argument in its access.
The ability to radiate conditions that are on a character is going to make WvW plain nuts when there are revenants on both sides. Basically, every battle is going to see everyone at max conditions all the time.

Just like how Necromancers spam Epidemic, right?
They also didn’t say Revenants will be immune to condition damage for the duration. If the Revenants has max condition on him or her he or she will die quickly, the new resistance boon aside. It probably has a target cap of 5 people as well in I’m assuming melee range.
The sky isn’t falling yet.

all of those require something besides just black. So, not mono black.
You just said black didn’t have access. You never said mono-black :p
And those are only the ones that are specific to enchantment. I didn’t include “destroy target permenant.”
I’m gonna laugh because there will be yet another profession that’s better at conditions than the supposed “master of conditions.”
If it makes you feel any better, the condition-based Revenants will likely be as useless in PvE as the necromancers.

True that, but I still hold hope that one day they will do something about that condi cap and maybe add more enemies that are vulnerable to condi. And on that day Revs and Engies will be out-dpsing Necros. :P
Dunno if anyone cares but the Gw2 Necro skill “Epidemic” is a Gw1 Mesmer Skill..
So technically you guys ripped off some of our CC >.>

True but in gw1 i always found it strange that mesmer had epidemic and not necromancer. It always felt more like a necro skill then a mesmer skill.
Also interesting is that confusion is alot like spiteful spirit, a gw1 necromancer elite skill, and yet necromancer have hardly any abilities that causes confusion (apart from the combos with spectral wall ofc).
In gw1 both necromancer and mesmer could go builds that punish enemies for doing actions. In gw2 the necromancer lost that kind of builds.

Confusion is the Empathy Hex that mesmers had, SS was more complicated and did more damage and was more useful outside of some PvP builds

Yes and no. SS was more of an aoe version of confusion and empathy technically only worked on attackes not on activation of skills.
Now that i think about it confusions more like empathy combined with backfire or Spiteful Spirit without the aoe.
