I am working towards 100% map completion for my gift of exploration. Will Maguuma also be required to reach 100% map completion when HoT releases (and how will this work for those who aren’t buying the expansion? Just curious).

Just want to know if I need to rush map completion before HoT releases or I can just take it slow

I doubt that they will add the new zones to the current map completion. At most, i could see them creating a new map completion achievement for the new stuff.

Entirely up to you. It’s a gamble.

If you want to take the “sure thing”, meaning the tasks and requirements that you know for certain, then you should get that done as quickly and efficiently as possible. This way, the expansion won’t affect you; you’ll already have your rewards.

If you’d rather gamble, then consider this: you were going to complete the new maps eventually anyway. If it doesn’t add to map completion, then there will likely be new rewards for doing so; if it does, well… you can’t leave that progress bar uncompleted, can you? regardless of the reward attached. That’s partly why you’re chasing the Legendary/ies in the first place: demonstrating mastery over the game.

New maps like Southsun, Silverwastes, and Dry Top don’t count towards completion.
As far as I know, the 100% is only the content that was available on release, including all three WvW borderlands and EB. I wouldn’t worry about HoT adding to that.
