What happened to make these meta events so incredibly boring? DS is a mindless drawn out zerg, AB is a static mindless boring zerg and the daytime VB events are like a luke warm cup of tasteless tea.

I can’t imagine anyone running DS without masteries, so well played Anet on trolling the community with that.

A mixed expac to sure.

/bored senseless already.

Might as well say that to all other pve content, tell me one piece of open world content that requires anything other than zerg full of people press 1. At lease in HoT if your whole zerg is only pressing 1 you fail events(well at least some)

Some must fight so that all may be free.

This was to be expected though. They’ve modeled the expansion on SW and DT.

I’d have been perfectly happy if there had been some zones without the railroading meta event cycles, where freestyle exploration would be the name of the game. More difficult than central Tyria and with interesting things to find and to do. Areas people wouldn’t vacate as soon as they realize not enough people are doing the “thing”, so you’d not be confronted with being shuffled from closing map to closing map all the time. Areas not tied to the real-world clock.

Me too. Thats exactly what I want, to be free to roam and play HoT as I see fit. I cant dedicate my scarce spare time to meta event timers.

Yes, yes they did. But instead of maps that reward those that push the meta to completion they put it on rails. VB is generally only occupied after dark, but boring till then anyways. In the case of AB they made players only seek out the one with the most players in the last 10 minutes for a more or less guaranteed success. TD still confuses me due to the map being a nightmare to navigate, but I assume it is designed n the same way. DS is a spam fest to enter the map as soon as the timer pops.

No matter how you slice it, they kept the idea of what SW was but mutated it into a huge time waster; bright side is that the WP revenue has never been better. If they wanted to make it much friendlier it would have been as easy to do as copying SW’s design, but they decided to make all the areas difficult IMO, to give players the illusion of progress.
