Simple request, but could we get a notification on the map if a hero point is locked behind a mastery we don’t have? Maybe an X through the hero point symbol?

It’s a bit demoralising to fight though hordes of mobs, or struggle to reach an out-of-the-way site, only to find that I’ve essentially wasted my time. At least with champions there’s a chance (no matter how remote) that enough other people will eventually show up. But when it’s a poison field or something, there’s really no option but to curse and waypoint out. And then attempt to remember which of the unnamed hero points I’ve already tried.

This. Please. Our group spent a couple hours to finally find a way to reach a hero point last night, only to find out that we were “not worthy” and not give a way to activate it.

Well, that’s the Metroidvania aspect of the game.

If you can’t do something initially, you come back later when you have the tools. In Metroid, you also don’t have a indicators that something is not obtainable for you. That’s what makes exploration interesting and it’s good that you have to find out some stuff for yourself.

I think it’s too much work for not enough reward. I mean that because most of the HPs could be reached by different methods so it wouldn’t make sense to create this just for a couple of HPs. Yeah it would be nice, but there are more important things to do right now.

This sounds like a really great idea. Please Anet add this. It’s indeed really frustrating to spend a lot of time figuring out a way to get to a HP, just to realize it’s locked.

I would recommend doing your homework before you go out and do hero points. Dulfy has good guides and shows what mastery you need for each point, also which ones you can solo verses ones that spawn Champions etc. I do agree they need it greyed out or something especially if you need a specific lore.

+1 from me for this too with the addition of something to indicate the hero point has been completed without having to hover the cursor over the map icon.

After spending over two hours trying to reach a hero point last night I finally assumed I’d hit another glass wall and would need to further level my masteries. By that time I was so annoyed I couldn’t bring myself to do any more in HoT so moved back to Tyria and started farming for gold instead.

Do some WvW. You can get the lot done with Notaries.

P.S How you get those crowbars to open chests?

Notaries are currently disabled due to some exploit or other.

Crowbars come from event rewards, like shovels.

There are several means of getting to Hero Points beyond easier access through a deep Mastery. Often you can ask for a Mesmer to Portal you as well. Or a Chronomancer to give you Alacrity on a specific one.

I think the best solution would be having it so upon hovering over the hero point in the information, in addition to how far away it is, would be whether or not you have the mastery required to complete it, what mastery is needed, and what to be prepared for. If Anet wants to leave them a surprise as to content (champions etc.) at the very least allow us to see what mastery is required if any. An obvious frustrating one I have seen on map chat plenty of times and encountered in game is the you are not worthy nuhoch wallow one in verdant brink which you can reach gliding but cannot unlock without being worthy…whatever that entails I believe it is nuhoch wallow mastery, although this could be a mastery point I do not quite recall.

TL;DR Include in info on mouse over of hero challenge on map what mastery if any is required.

This is already a thing. If you have not completed it the HP is an outline, if you have it’s filled in.
