So I am new enough to not have crafted a legendary, and have noted with interest the new legendary crafting/mastery path/thing coming in HoT.

I have a character currently at 90-95% map completion (my second, if it matters). Given the pending arrival of the HoT expansion, is there an advantage either:
- waiting until after the expansion before finishing the map completion on this character? or
- finishing map completion on this character now, before the expansion?

I have asked around in a large guild, and I have received conflicting answers. I would like to try to find a consensus.

The only thing I can think of is that there’s a good chance running around doing the collections for precursor crafting is going to put you near places you might not have explored yet.

The question is, do it now while there isn’t much else going on, or do it opportunistically while something else has you all over Tyria?

Sounds like you’re only 2-3 hours from finishing the map.

You need to do it before you craft your legendary, so I agree with Artanis, go for it now. I mean right now lol, before the Halloween events drop. Right now in the dead spot you could easily bang it out.

And then if we have to clear the HoT maps you can worry about just those.

I am waiting to clear maps with my L80 characters until after HoT launches because I want to use the XP for my Mastery Lines, rather than just wasting it. I do, however, get any Hero Challenges near. Ymmv.
