I don’t understand how to make this and the wiki is confusing?
How much should a set cost to make? and what profession do I need to be?
Not sure on the exact cost but you can make the gear on any armor/weapon crafter.

Marauder is just a stat set. Recipes for it must be purchased / earned in HoT. It also requires special materials from HoT.
Mat’s you can purchase on the BLTC. Recipes to use those mat’s are generally not available without earning them in PvE. Not discoverable.
As far as discovering them I’m not sure how that is done. The wiki just says it’s bought from craftsmen and I’m not sure what i did to unlock them but I can buy the recipe from there. Maybe check out the craftsmen and see? It might just be an automatic unlock for peeps with HoT.
Follow the bread crumbs.
Just quickly, marauder (exotic) gear is made the same way as any other gear. Buy the insignia recipe from the master craftsman for, say, tailoring. Create the insignia and components for an armor item, then discover the item producing one piece of gear. I believe you only need 400 crafting for the exotics. Ascended marauder (e.g. Svaards) gear requires 500 level crafting.
Ascended armor and weapons need 500 but, if you already have ascended pieces, you can use exotic (400) insignia or inscriptions to change the stat’s in the forge.
Marauder is a unique stat because it uses HoT mats but doesn’t require the expansion to make as you can just get the recipe from the vendor. It also doesn’t required jeweled damask patches to make ascended. You’ll naturally have to buy the materials if you don’t have HoT.
The other HoT stats such as trailblazer do require HoT because the recipe can only be purchased in an HoT map.
Marauder exotic costs about 10g per piece + the cost of leveling crafter. Ascended is naturally much more expensive— ~100g a piece.

The other option, (if for some reason you already have ascended armor but don’t have a leveled crafting profession – IE you got a piece(s) of armor from an ascended armor drop), is to purchase the exotic insignia recipe from HOT maps and make it on a crafter profesion that has 400 crafting. Then throw your ascended armor, the exotic insignia, the anthology of hero’s and globs of ecto in the forge to transmute that armor to the new stats. Same process with weapons, only exotic inscriptions are needed.

Purchase the EXOTIC recipes (for each piece of armor or weapon you want) in the Lion Trade Market; then use the recipes to craft those exotics. Alternatively they drop in the HoT maps. Craft the EXOTIC inscriptions/insignias and craft your gear.
For ascended armor/weapons: the same: puchase the EXOTIC recipes for each piece or armor/weapon you want to get; then CRAFT any other NON-MARAUDER piece you want (i.e.: a helm, a sword…); then craft the EXOTIC marauder isncriptions/insignias and use the Mystic Forge to TRANSMUTE the stats.
Alternatively you can craft directly the ascended Marauder gear: it requires to buy the recipes in the Auric Basin map. But this method is WAY MORE EXPENSIVE than crafting just ascended berserk gear (put here any other random stats) and transmute then to Marauder.
Cheapest ascended to craft then change over would be dire or magis or whatever the cheapest exotic insignia or inscription on tp. unless you have all the mats for another one.

It would help to know what weight you want to make, but basically:
mesmer, elementalist, necromancer require a tailor
ranger, engineer, thief require a leatherworker and
warrior, revenant and guardian require an armorsmith.
In each case you need 400 skill to craft exotic quality marauder armour. If you don’t have 400 skill yet then you’d have to factor the costs of skilling up and finding a crafting guide…
Once you have 400 skill then the overall cost of marauder gear is not that high because the “special ingredients” are barbed thorns and ebony orbs, which are not that expensive.
The main drawback to normal exotic armour is that it’s soulbound. If you have 450 skill in your crafting profession you can make account bound exotic armour called Ornate Guild Armor that remains account bound like ascended armour (so any of your characters who wear that weight can use it).

Ornate guild armour comes with a stat selector, so you craft it and then double-click it to choose the stats you want. Marauder is one of the options. The light armour is especially nice.

This is not true. You don’t need to go into HoT maps at all for marauder. It comes from the crafting vendor.
Ascended Marauder is crafted like most of the original stats. It doesn’t require the more expensive jeweled patch/dowel
The only HoT things that are required are ebony orbs and barbed thorns for the exotic marauder insignia which is a component of the ascended version, neither of which is particularly expensive compared to the other insignias and can be bought off the TP.
tl;dr craft the marauder directly, unless you found the ascended piece with different stats.
