I am not sure if it’s been asked and answered.
But do using the Writs of Experience gained from Dailies go toward Masteries?

For example, I have 20 Writs of Experience in my bank. All my characters are level 80. Would I be able to use those Writs to level up my masteries? Or do I need to just level them up “normally” through play? (i.e exploring, killing things, events)

Also, what about Tomes of Knowledge? Can they be applied to masteries as well?

What kind of source do you need? It’s not possible. Writs of Experience cannot be used by level 80 characters, and Tomes of Knowledge give you a Spirit Shard when used at level 80. There’s no “source” needed to know that.

Is it possible that with the update they Writs and Tomes got changed to allow to be applied to Masteries?

I would check for myself, but I get log in.

The way Tomes and Writs work was changed recently precisely because of this. Tomes will not help you advance your masteries, Tomes will not help you advance your eSpec.

Yeah, those items are exclusively for jumpstaring alts at the moment.

I highly reccommend, if you’re done rolling alts, to just keep a character slot open and use them to farm yourself a black lion key every time you have 10 levels worth, as there’s no other use for them (unless they are required for a guild upgrade or crafting recipie we haven’t levelled up to, which is possible, the new guild upgrades require a lot of weird kitten.)

The masteries seen in the demo are just the tip of what masteries will be available at launch, and the team will have more surprises for players. We wanted to know if all those consumables, like Tomes of Knowledge and Writs of Experience, would help players unlock all of these masteries faster. The short answer is that they won’t. The experience bar is going away and is being replaced by the mastery training bar. This training bar is in no way tied to experience, but fills up by going out and doing stuff in the world. So any item that gives you experience won’t help you train masteries.

no offense meant here, but this topic has been vigorously talked about for the last 3 months. Also If you have played a character to level 80, you would know that the tomes give shards, and writs only work under level 80. what you are saying is “Prove air doesnt fill my lungs when I breathe…” kitten?
