Mastery order
I’m thinking in going Glide → Bounce → Updraft → Nuhoch Hunting (for the collections) → no idea
(and the other 8 elite specs maxed too)
Note that both the points and the progression is seperate for jungle masteries and core tyria masteries.
Getting the first level of gliding and getting bouncing mushrooms is pretty much mendatory in the jungle. After that I’m a bit torn between more gliding and lore-based masteries.
I may start the Gliding for Maguuma masteries and then head into the Halloween stuff and see about upping the Tyria masteries, probably a level of the legendary and then a level of pact commander and then another level of legendary and then a level … etc
If it’s set up like the betas I’m going to run each of my level 80s through the first Living Story in new area to get all the exp for that and put that towards gliding, and if I max the first line of that, then mushroom jumping.
The rest of the time I’m spending in the Halloween content. For that I’ll probably do the Pact Commander Mastery, which has loot vacuum and city movement swiftness of 33% as the final reward.
ANet may give it to you.
As a thought. I guess they’ll have Mastery Commune spots on vanilla Tyria. The Pack Commander requires 12 Mastery points to unlock but it says no exp is required….

I wonder if the mastery for stealth detection will work in PvP and WvW.

The jungle masteries only work in the jungle areas. Besides, they would never let masteries influence PvP.
Best order? Not a clue.
Once I get started on the HoT content, I’ll probably do:
Gliding T1 → Itzel Lore T1 → Nuhoch Lore T1 → Gliding T2 → Gliding T3, and then not sure what after.
Since I’m starting with Halloween stuff, the first thing I’m working on is Pact Commander. And if I complete that, I’ll start the legendary line.
I’ve been holding off hero point hunting on all my 80th level alts to flow those easy XP into core Tyria masteries. I’d like auto-loot asap. Even before touching the Meguma tracks.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

I was looking into that just now. It says no exp required for Pact Commander on the wiki. My understanding from reading Dulfy is we get Mastery Points for doing Season 2 living story and use that to unlock the Pack Commsnder.

My first one, my explorer, will probably go: Glide >>Bounce >rest of glider skills so that she can get around. From that I will decide what my alts need most.
Glide, then Bounce. After that, who knows.
Fix’t because I need more coffee.

I noted that it had 0 xp on the wiki. I wasn’t sure if we just didn’t have data or what, and I didn’t recall it being mentioned on the stream. I knew we were getting a mastery point per LS2 episode, but I would imagine it would require more than just MPs (since we’re getting several from the rest of the core game retroactively as well). But if that’s all that one takes, then I’ll like be all set. But that makes 0 sense, so I do sort of expect some level of xp grind for it.

From your post it seems like you assume masteries are character-bound, though I can’t tell for sure. Just in case: Masteries are not character-bound, they are account-bound.

Yup. I am a caffeine lacking kitten . Will fix that.
Hmm, well i’m definately going to prioritize halloween since it’s temporary content, sso i’d most likely go with the pact commander line followed (if it gets completed during that time ofc) by starting the precursor hunt line (which atm i’m only looking to level up as far as needed to get the bifrost precursor)
For the jungle, first ofc put a point in gliding, can’t imagine not having that, followed by jumping mushrooms and back to gliding most likely. Really want to get gliding maxed quickly.

Yah. I read it over several times trying to figure it out. It seems though that if it was unknown exp it would say that rather than 0 XP. It’s also strange if it should be unknown when the others are known.
If they wish to hand us a completed mastery line at login, I certainly won’t complain. Lol.

Lol nope, 0 complaints if they’d like to just say “here ya go.” I’m rewatching that stream to see if they mention XP and I just missed it before.
Edit: Ok rewatched. Wow, I totally forgot about the Melandru backpack recipe that we can get with that line. (Like I needed to be “more” excited)
But anyway, at 26:00 Josh does say that “masteries” (not specifically this line) are all about earning points to unlock and then training with xp. At which point he goes on to say that LS2 episodes will reward a mastery point retroactively so that we’re “ready to work on” this mastery. Based on that, I’d say plan for a decent amount of xp farming.

In Heart of Maguuma I’ll be doing Gliding → Bouncing mushrooms → Nuhoch till max → Exalted till max.
My reasoning is from the beta tests I’ve found that gliding and bouncing mushrooms at too useful not to get, and then I want the combat benefits that Nuhoch and Exalted giv, heal skills remove deadly poison and ability to break Mordrem husks to deal more dmg to them. Obviously if the need arises for a higher glider or bouncing level I’ll get those up, but they won’t be my main focus.
As for the rest of Tyria I’ll be smashing through the precursor crafting ones. I’ve been holding off buying Dawn and Dusk since January, when they announced HoT. That’s a long time to have all the stuff for the legendary, but no legendary ????
Maguuma ones: Gliding 1 and Mushroom 1. After those probably gliding 2 and the other remaining #1s.
Tyria: Commander line to it’s max with halloween! Autoloot <3
On the release day I will go for Gliding > Shrooms > Updraft > nuhoch hunting for collections. Later I will level everything to level 3 or will go for full itzel and exalted masteries.
After playing BWE3 gliding is a must have first, I then did mushroom bouncing, but I found that most of the mushrooms bounce you into a crowd of veteran mobs or those instant kill shrooms with not much else of interest. I think I’ll level up gliding a few levels first and then do shrooms.

Pact commander for the win. Gliding for Maguuma.
