Medium Armour Classes
Saving the best for last.
Maybe the elite specializations for the medium professions are the most awesome and complex and thus require the most effort and time to develop.
In all seriousness though, Anet has said features are shown when those features are far enough along to be shown completely. Whether that is the only reason why the medium professions are last or not is something that none of us can say for sure of course.
On the plus side now we’re guaranteed that the next reveal will be one of the medium classes.
The order of the reveals doesn’t really matter, they’ll all still be there come release.
Funny thing is both ranger and engineers were disclosed during the first trailer…absurd!

Funny thing is both ranger and engineers were discosed during the first trailer…absurd!
The druid was actually disclosed in the announcement speech, being used as the primary example of the elite specialization system.

but will they all be there come the next BWE? if not, then they’ll have less testing, and consequently fewer bug fixes or general improvements. on top of this, it means those Medium armour fans get less value out of the betas.

I don’t know depends on when the next beta is. But regardless, it doesn’t matter which aren’t revealed before the next beta, there’d still be some not reveal thus get less player testing . The type of armor that the class wears doesn’t really matter. Most people are fans of classes not the whole armortype, so doesn’t matter which are left out of the next beta (if any) there’d still be people who don’t get to test their favourite class (if they arent revealed by the next beta)
Honestly I think ranger, engineer and thief are just harder to work with.
Thief seems like a nightmare to balance due to inititive which can be increased meaning that the skill may not be to impactfull because of spam but also not too little. Cast times and tells are nigh meaningless due to stealth.
Engineer has some balance problems due to kits, base weapons are supposed to be weaker because too kits and utilities are most of the time not taken because of the kit requirement. The problem is that half of the specialisation is weapon and utilities so being supressed by kits doesn’t seem like a great idea. Also the specialisation seems to be AI based which means it may extra work to not turn out like minions.
Ranger has pets no matter the specialisation and the specialisation is probably integrated the pets somehow so that may be some extra work.

well, it is a little unfair to leave a whole armour class until last, but I’d also say that medium armour might be the armour class needing most attention (thief/ranger ain’t so hot right now), which doesn’t help.

Fairness has nothing to do with it. What is important is whether the class is ready to be revealed, anet has stated plenty of times that they don’t reveal something they don’t feel is ready. Clearly the medium classes aren’t ready. It’s not like there is some sort of deep-rooted hatred for medium classes at anet. It will be revealed when it’s ready.
I would have loved to see ranger or thief (being one of my mains) but clearly they aren’t ready and there’s no point in being upset it’s not shown yet. Just be patient, they’ll come.
Isn’t next week Pax? Most likely won’t get a reveal next week. Could even be another BWE.

I suspect they’re going to do the next BWE once all of the elite specs are revealed.

Ranger getting the best of anything? Good joke there :P

Well some classes just are not priority compared to others, seeing more love for some than others ever will get is nothing new.

I think they had ranger and engineer elites more advanced than the others on the beggining of this HoT project, so they use them to show off when announcing the Expac. A short time later they noticed some kind of major flaw in their original ideas, and so they decided to left them for last to fix everything thoroughly before revealing something they could regret later.
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”

Don’t get me wrong, I’m excited for any elite spec reveal… but the wait for thieves is absolutely torturous!
Saving the best for last.
My friend, I really hope you’re right.
Thief – how can they reveal the thief when it is perma stealth?

Sic ‘Em, Analyze, Light’s Judgement, Gaze of Darkness.
“Are we still a thing?” xD
Nope. They be deleting all medium armor wearers for HoT :P
Lol Just be patient! I highly doubt the reveals had anything to do with armor weights. o.O
I just want to point out, that next week is 3rd Birthday Week for Guild Wars 2. Could be 3 reveals in one as a treat?
Luckily I like my ranger as she is, so if the druid completely blows it won’t be that terrible a thing for me.
Medium armor classes…
Is that, like, when you put two light armors on? Or an old and worn heavy plate?
The order of the reveals doesn’t really matter, they’ll all still be there come release.
It does matter. HOT is scheduled to be released this year. They said 2015. There’s about 3 months left before the deadline (I hightly doubt they want to release after Xmas).
The classes that were revealed are receiving fine tuning and adjustment due to feedback from BWE.
Basically, the medium armor will be revealed last and leave little time for feedback and adjustments. If they cut it too close, they will patch it after release.
So…I’m going to call it now. Medium armor classes will be unfinished or not as fine tuned as the heavy and light armor classes comes HOT release.
To be fair people with that attitude will call it unfinished either way. Maybe they are done as much as any other elite spec. I’m pretty sure they have them all done and use releases to build hype. Having a reveal won’t help balance or fine tuning and I’m very sure they will be available for the next BWE.

ALL medium armor classes already missed one opportunity to test the elite spec to provide feedback. Light armor classes will receive twice the amount of testing. Sorry, that is not fair in my opinion.
So did 2 heavy armor classes. Do you honestly think they will put a LOT of time into the already tested classes after bwe2? The first reveals only had a weekend of testing just like the next group of classes so there’s no difference in test time. Anything they do to the already tested specs will be some fine tuning but that’s about it. Their focus will undoubtedly be the new revealed specs. You must not trust their time management skills.

What do you mean there’s won’t be a difference in test time. I’m assuming the next BWE will include all classes that have been or will be revealed. Are you saying classes already BWE tested will not be available in BWE2? If so, that would be fair. If not, then my original statement holds true.
It doesn’t matter what I think. Testing is testing and what Anet does is up to them. I just want ALL classes to have the same amount of testing.

Dragonhunter, to a lesser extent
Tempest.
they’re going to need to put a fair bit of time into these

Testing was the wrong choice of words. I’m talking about the focus and time they put into the specs. What ever the new thief spec is for example will most likely receive more attention in the next BWE than say necros. And what NEEDS to be changed with tempest other than balancing numbers? They aren’t getting a sword and scrapping war horn, they aren’t going to give an entirely new role, etc.
Edit: actually, I’m leaving this thread now so no need to reply. It’s a stupid complaint for the sake of complaining. I promise you will all be fine one way or the other and if you’re so upset go outside and throw a kitten ball around.

Gabriell.4856 is perfectly right.
Medium classes will have simply less testing than the others,
I still don t understand why you don t get it @zalavaaris.

if I had to pick, honestly, I’d go with the classes who aren’t suffering pretty heavily in their core mechanics right now. Elementalist, Warrior, perhaps Engineer.
Necromancer’s a good example of a class that needed the extra attention, and it’s been working pretty well for them. classes like Thief and Ranger could use the extra attention at this point, and would’ve benefitted from being shown sooner.

This all has to do with the TIMING of the reveal, not the ORDER. so my point still stands.
GROAN. Who really cares when a class gets revealed? Does it ultimately matter? One class has to be first and one has to be last. Why look for a conspiracy?
These kinds of threads are dumb but inevitable. If Warrior or Ele were last we would have conspiracy threads like, “Ele and Warrior not revealed until last because they are are going to nerf the big damage classes.”

No they didn’t! ANet revealed their 10 year trench-coat skin development roadmap and all the medium classes decided to re-roll.
Luckily I like my ranger as she is, so if the druid completely blows it won’t be that terrible a thing for me.
Well Elites aren’t suppose to be must-have or outright improvements on the base-class.

You’re assuming that they won’t still be balancing elites months after HoT drops. The testing we get to do now is important, sure, but I don’t think balancing is ever really done.

Well humans evolved in an environment where pattern recognition was an important part of survival. Those who could identify the best patterns (i.e. Ung ate red berry, Ung now dead. Me no eat red berry) had a better chance of survival. Furthermore when it comes to survival it’s better to err on the side of caution, that is to say it’s better to think there’s a tiger in the bushes when there is not, then to think there’s not a tiger in the bushes when there is.
It’s the same reason we see so many ‘RNG is broken’ threads, because of this habit of seeing patterns where there are none.

LOL I agree with this to a small extent. I have two things that hold me back on believing “The Medium Armor Conspiracy” here in this thread is OK.
1. I am not going to jump every time I walk past a bush. Not a paranoia fan.
2. This is a game, not a red berry.

I never meant to imply that there’s some sort of conspiracy, just that it’d be nice if they’d ordered it a little more evenly.

Excuse me? I assumed what? I already said they will balance after HOT release if they don’t have enough time implying there will be future balancing patches. But whatever, can’t expect people to read the entire thread before giving their 2 cents.

It does to me when you look at their balancing cycle which is 6 months for major updates. It may be fine with you but for others 6 months is a bit too long to wait.

So saying Revenant is fine, but it isn’t any better than any of the other choices.
Who should go last? Unquestionably Revenant – this is the one profession no one has thousands of hours invested in yet.
Warrior. The golden child class is not going to stop being golden just because it’s Elite gets the least time on the open polishing rotation
Then probably Guardian. Being in a good place means your elite isn’t actually an attempt to fix something. And the new variant was never going to be as potent as the alpha predator that’s evolved over years of careful tinkering.
By the same logic Ranger and then Necromancer should have gone first – these are troubled classes and their Elites are a major opportunity to breath life back into them. Reaper is succeeding in improving the Necromancer’s visibility and appeal. Ranger needed that shot at the limelight even more so.
Instead we’re pretty much seeing them in t he order they figure them out, meaning the ones that need the most time to resolve are getting the least time in open review.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

Let me get this straight, there are 9 professions and you’re complaining that they haven’t covered your class and it isn’t “fair” and my class is more important then the others (this is exactly what I’m hearing from OP). Get rid of that fast-food society self-entitlement. They’ve already said once, when its ready it will be revealed.

True, but on the other hand, it also means these classes are having more time spent on designing them. That’s probably worth the trade-off, since they can get some idea whether the spec is going to work from in-house testers – it’s not as good as a public test but the resulting quality difference seems like it’d be less than if they rushed something out that they weren’t reasonably confident in already.
