I was playing a game of stronghold the other day and I realized that the mesmer was easy to spot out of his clones. He had just gotten supply and had the supply symbol over his head so every time he created a new clone I just looked for the little floating barrel. Needless to say he was not happy and rightfully so. I believe the best way to fix this is either

1) Disable the symbol for mesmers.
2) Put the symbol on all of the mesmers clones.
3) Disable the symbol for the entire enemy team.

Each of these three options has its ups and downs but they are in my opinion the best options.

Good point. Tough to pick a solution but I’d say the fairest way is to put the symbol on all mesmer clones.

DIsabling the symbol gives mesmers an advantage (very slight) and not knowing if the enemy has supply or not kind of defeats the purpose of the map.

You’re correct though, this needs a fix.

1) Disable the symbol for mesmers.

No, this is unfair

2) Put the symbol on all of the mesmers clones.

This one actually seems pretty reasonable. Perhaps technically difficult, but it would be fair (as long as the game could distinguish that if a clone dies supply does not actually drop).

3) Disable the symbol for the entire enemy team.

The symbols are not for your allies, they are markers for the enemy to know who to kill first.

I also propose #4, in the similar vein to your #2:

4) Have the symbol disappear for a brief amount of time after a clone is produced (1-1.5 sec) and then have it reappear. This mechanic works similarly to when a Mesmer stealths and leaves behind a clone (like their downstate 2 or their Decoy skill), insofar as, in this case, instead of the Mesmer being stealthed, their icon is “stealthed”.

A downstate Mesmer can be shown to be the player by the red bleeding-out icon above their heads too, which makes stomping them not that difficult if you know what to look for.

DUMBEST IDEA EVER

Why should the Mesmer get any special treatment just because you have 3 other clones that look and act just like you do. SO WHAT.

If you don’t like the supply thingy…DONT GET THE SUPPLY.

Mesmers have always had “buff” icons on them for easier targeting. Mantras, Banner buffs, Food (in WvW), Revealed, beast bonus, etc. I don’t see how holding supplies will be any different from the current scenarios. Easiest way is just to spend them after getting the supplies.

I would definitely say 2, put the symbol on all of the mesmer clones.

I do not play my mesmer often, most of my hours are on Thief & Necromancer, however, Mesmers are already easy to kill due to how squishy they are, and decently easy to spot for any semi-competent player.

A mesmers main line of defense is Clones & Stealth (If they even take stealth), and to a lesser extent, Blink, and with this supply thing highlighting them, it would completely destroy their primary defense (clones) as an option. That only leaves Stealth & Blink, which forces them to pick +100% stealth duration & the utility blink, giving no choice over build options if they plan to survive carrying these supply crates.

As it is now, this needs to be addressed.

Thief has the same issue with their Thief Army elite skill. And it’s not a problem, it’s a risk for the Mesmer that they can choose to have or not have. If they’re a Mesmer, then they probably should pick to be not running supply. Instead they’re much more useful at breaking guards for the doorbreakers or defending their own gates.

This should not change and I think what it is right now is the best option.

As a mesmer main I am fine with the supply showing up on me rather than my clones. I feel it offers some counter-play to an otherwise strong class and rewards good player perception.

(This little gem also works with charged mantras, distortion, and other such tells. Hope this helps!)

The additional thieves that a thief can summon are not supposed to be deceptive – they’re the same race as the summoner, but that’s as far as it goes. I guess if the player really wanted to eke out that extra advantage they can make themselves look as much like the summoned thieves as possible, but even then the summoned thieves don’t have the summoner’s nameplate like clones do.

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.
