So I found the achievement line that gives the Mistward set for Revanent. I acquired the last piece for my leggings on my ranger and I took it and put it into my bank fully expecting that I could put it onto my rev. When I went to do this I found out that this heavy armor is bound to my Ranger. It soul-binded on pickup. I would like to be able to put it on my rev and I fear that this binding problem is also the case with the elite spec weapon collections and could cause potential problems with players happening to get the last component on one character and accepting the reward and not being able to use the canonical armor/weapons on the class that said weapons and armor are designed for. Please reconsider ANet. Please change this to account bound until stats are selected and possibly put up a warning saying that it will be soul-bound after the stats are selected.
Yeah, it will most likely get changed – but for now if you do unlock the chest on another character leave the box at the bottom right of your screen and change to your rev. you can open it their.
You can transmute it. So if it’s the look you’re after there is not an issue.
If you don’t want to buy transmutation shards with gems then you can get them as rewards for mapping out cities. Make a character, map all the cities. Delete character, repeat as you like. Sure it’s tedious but it’s free.
This of course assumes you have a free character spot to do so.
If you’re actually after the armor, well WvW tokens are easy enough to get and so are dungeon tokens. At least they were prior to HoTs, I don’t know how interested people are in running dungeons anymore.
In any case, this is all working as intended. All exotic items once equipped are soul bound, the same goes for all exotics given out from achievement rewards.
You get access to the collections when you max your revenant specializations. Those being Corruption, Retribution, etc etc etc.
After that it’s a simple matter of collecting certain armor skins. Some drops from specific type of enemies (bandits, saurians) and buying some things from mastery venders.
The drops from the specific enemies wasn’t too bad. It didn’t take me more than 5 minutes to get any one of them and several I got without even trying to just playing through areas in HoTs. I had all of those before I even have the proper mastery level to buy the vendor items.
All in all not that hard to get. Not as hard to get as Glint’s Bastion, that’s for sure. Which requires several maxed masteries.
I had this problem as well, as my main is my necro, when I was running about doing events and not realizing that a) soulbound on aquire 2) that close to completing it and it dropped on her and not being able to use the armor after working to get it . . is kinda . . well .. annoying.
Would be nice to have it set to account bound on receiving and soulbound once you choose the stats . .
I was glad that I heard beforehand that the pieces became soulbound. I had to go out of my way to not complete one of the collections to the head item wouldn’t become soulbound to another character. I do hope they change it to account bound but soulbound on equip.
