Q:
Mordrem Gorrila?
A:
What goat said. Gorillas simply don’t exist in that part of Maguuma. Apparently they did live on Orr (or close enough to it to end up on the landmass when Zhaitan raised it from the sea), which is why there are Risen Gorillas.
Incidentally, I don’t remember any gorillas from GW1. There were some simians in the Tarnished Coast region, though (and they annoyed me greatly).
Zhaitan took them all. Apparently he doesn’t like to share.

zhaitan raises the dead
we did not see any living gorillas in the jungle so if they ever lived there they are either in hiding or extinct
Maybe they were not good enough to be used. Zhaitan took all the dead creatures he could and use them as cannon fodder. Mordremoth must clone the design of the creature, so maybe they weren’t efficient enough to waste resources on them.
If we ever find Gorillas in any other part of Tyria, I would love to be able to tame them as a ranger pet.
We have Lion’s Arch but there is no actual Lion in game, i think gw2 need more wild life species.

Lion’s Arch gets its name from the actual lions that live in Elona.
If you want lions, you want Elona.

The Netherlands has a history of using the lion in symbolism related to the country, the Netherlands is in northwestern Europe.

I don’t know about any other gorillas in GW2 but ANet needs to make this happen…

The closest might actually be Tusked Howlers which are basically tusked gorillas. They are native to Elona.
Fun fact to be had: Zhaitan was also waging war against Elona. Given that the closest comparison to gorillas in GW1 lived in Elona, it wouldn’t be far fetched to believe that either lived in the stretch between Orr and Elona and were captured and corrupted by the invading risen forces.
This would place gorillas out of reach from Mordremoth….
But not from Kralkatorrik.
Yes! I say we shall have Branded Gorillas in the future! Branded Gorillas I say!
And we should have branded bears, I mean just look at that adorable face.
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Ohhhh- I always thought those bruisers were baboons!

In GW1 there were http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Cloudtouched_Simian monkeys in Tarnished Coast.

Wellll…
They’re kind of like a tusked cross of gorilla and baboon, I guess? They do have exposed butts akin to baboons, I think.

To be fair, the Heart of Maguuma isn’t the Tarnished Coast.
I’m guessing the asura’s attempt at exterminating the wildlife in the Tarnished Coast proved very… effective. For simians, if nothing else.
