More populated map invite bugged ?
Myself and a few others have the same problem. I suspect their load balancing algorithms are not configured properly. For example, it’s better to have 2 maps running with a population distribution 70/50% rather than to have 100/20%. New players will enter the server with only 50% population until it reaches a certain threshold before a new server is created to start offloading new players. The issue worsens due to the LFG system because you have random people pulling other people away from their servers. People may bunny hop servers until they find a more populated server and/or with tags, which skews the load balancer. This is often quite an issue with Dragon Stand where people are competing with each other to taxi in players. So you end up with something that looks more like a distribution of 100/100/100/80/50/30/20/10/10/10. Lots of new players are pushed to the lower populated servers to help it grow. In one instance, I was kicked out of 3 different servers in less than 10 minutes. Clearly the load balancer trying to clean up these low populated instances.
The system Anet has in place will always dump you into an empty map whether it’s from you first zoning into the map or if you accept their map transfer thingy. The fatal flaw in their system is that they refuse to realize that players want FULL maps to run Meta events. Players want 5 FULL maps and Anet gives them 20 empty maps where players have to taxi around to create their full maps leaving those that don’t LFG Taxi in even emptier maps.
I don’t know if this is a bug. I thought they said they fixed that earlier, but I still get tossed into emptier maps regularly.
It would be nice if it were possible to be shuttled into a fuller map, not an emptier one….
