So something I don’t see talked a lot about in here or in game is replaying the story (or event doing it an alts).

Personally, I can’t stand doing it on alts or over again. Here are a few reasons.

1. Bugs/Inconsistency. A good recent example is The Jungle Provides. First Kaana ended up bugging out and getting stuck. So I had to restart the whole instance over again. Then I was doing one of the side missions (totems) and was gliding with my totem. Little did I know they put a point where you fall and die. There are some air drafts that have a significant portion of them cut off (like the bottom half). Trying to get too low causes you to “die” and respawn. So I went for an air draft, died in the middle of the air, and lost my totem. Stuff like this isn’t exactly uncommon in the story and is just annoying.

2. Dialogue. Ok the Dialogue was interesting the first time around. Maybe the second. I absolutely hate the amount of waiting around there is. Listening to NPCs talk, “escorting” them, etc. It just gets boring. There should be a way to skip these two steps.

These are the two major reasons I dislike doing the story over again. It just gets tiresome after the second time around.

I’ve done the tyria story now 14 times.. If they added more classes obviously i’d do it more.

I like following the story chains and seeing bits i’ve missed etc, sadly the loot drops have been removed so now its a lot less fun, so i mostly just wander the open world pve and do map completions..

Sadly the Hot story line i’ve had to shelve as its far too hard to do solo, the maps are a nightmare for me to solo and well i doubt i’ll buy anymore xpacs if this is the direction GW2 is heading.

I dislike all the team/grouped content as it requires far too much timing and hardcore playing i’m not good at, i also don’t find any of it fun at all.

I hate PvP of all types in every game.

The only time I don’t like replaying the story is when your skills are locked by the game. There are a lot of HoT and a few LS2 stories that give the same skills no matter your profession, so it’s pretty dull after the first time or two.

It would also be more fun if one could take a few more shortcuts after completing it the first time. However, I can’t imagine that would be easy to design, test, and maintain. So I can live with the same routes and dialogue.

John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

Just addressing The Jungle Provides achievement: if you lose a totem it will respawn after a short delay where it was in the first place.
