Stats and Trait Lines
Currently we know aboiut 2 legends that Revenants can channel, Mallyx and Jalis, and as shown on the PoI they both have corresponding trait lines. Corruption for Mallyx(Prec, +condi dmg) and Retributon for Jalis(Toughness, +Healing). There is also another trait line that was revealed, Invocation which is the profession mechanic trait line and currently has +Ferocity and most likely will have a profession specific stat as the second bonus (like Virtue recharge rate for guards). This leaves us with 2 remaining trait lines and 4 remaining stats. Power, Precision, Boon duration and Vitality. In every profession so far, the +Power and +Condi duration are together, so I suppose it will be same for revenant as its +Prec +condi dmg. is same as bonuses for trait lines on other 4 professions. and its its +Tough, +Heal trait line has same bonus as trait lines for 3 other profs. This leaves us with a +Vit +Boon duration stat combo which is also common among classes, so I think these four remaing stats will be paired together as I mentioned (Power/Condi Dur) and (Vit/Boon dur).
Current Legends
As mentioned before we know about two available legends, Jalis and Mallyx, both of which are form different campaigns. Jalis is a character form prophecie (he did appearin EoTN but he was a bigger characterin Prophecies) and Mallyx is from Nightfall. This makes me think that we will get 1 character from each release as a hero, and since based on trait lines we will get 4 legends, they will balance on 2 Villains/2 Heroes.
Other Legends
Having 1 character form Prophecies and 1 from Nihtfall leaves us with EoTN and Factions. So from factions who else would be the Legend of the Mists other than Shiro Tagachi, the villain of Factions campaign. His profession is Assassin and this makes me think he will take power/condi duration trait line. From EoTN we will probably get a hero, who will take Vit/Boon duration trait line. This hero will be a character which was more support-based so I think this would rule out Jora and Vekk and obviously we are NOT gonna get Ogden since he is still alive, leaving Gwen as a supposed Legend we are gonna channel. Gwen also kind of makes sense since she was quite a huge character. But at the same time Glint is another possibility since she was so much more relevant than Gwen and is kind of hinted at with the dragon spirity skill in the trailer.
HOWEVER: If Vit/Boon dur line would go to Factions character its most likely gonna be Togo and if Power/Condi dur line goes to EOTN character it could be Svanir

I just guess, the Class will see 5 Legends. 1 per Trait Line.
(Due to it havign more, than the other Professions, ANet would add for all other Classes somewhen later then some new Elite Skills, with maybe a Feature Pack, so that all Professions would be equal then again with their amounts of Elite Skills, so that all Professions would have 5 Basic Elite Skills +1 per Specialization
Corruption > ConDam/Pre = Mallyx
Retribution > Tough/Heal = Jalis
Invocation > Fer/Energy Regeneration Speed= Kuunavang (so much about Dragons and your Factions Theory..Shiro is overrated)
Affection > Power/ CondDur = Gwen (shes just way too Guild Wars iconic not to be in here)
Reversion > Vitality/Boon = Razah as the ultimate “Mentor” for this Profession is imo pretty much also a very given thing same as much as like Gwen is iconic…
And Kuunavang/Glint is also basically confirmed based on the Trailer that shows the Class usign some kind of Dragon Legend and there are only 2 legendary dragons in the whole game history that had to do with us back in history, and that were Kunavang and Glint, but due to Glint playing still with its Egg too much a role in the present, I think its alot more reasonable, that Kuunavang will be the Legend.

I am leaning more towards 4 instead of 5…
We currently have:
Condi-Support Legend
Tanky-Support/Control Legend
I assume they will add another legend for damage, I can’t see Mallyx being that viable
And they might add a legend that buffs and enhances the team.
These are my speculations.
Before I get bombarded with Mallyx OP replies.
I don’t think condi-management is that good for existing PvE.
No point in bouncing back condi’s if there is barely any incoming.
But this remains to be seen

My hope is for Togo and it looks like in that picture on the blog the other day that they may be toying with Rotscale as a possibility. Togo, in the Bonus Mission Pack was high dps and had a great mechanic. Togo was a Ritualist and it would be a cool way to tie them into the Rev. in a small way.
For support, I’d think they’d be wise to go with Mhenlo or Saul D’Alessio. Sure, Saul used smiting prayers mostly, but was a monk. Ventari would be an interesting choice or Ronan.
My favorites would be Glint, Kuunavang or Dhuum though.

It seems to me they haven’t figured out the remaining Legends or the exact number. Keep in mind, those trait lines currently match up to the given Legends, but they’re not named after them. I’d expect it’s more that certain lines are designed with certain Legends in mind, but there’s nothing stopping you from mixing and matching like any class, depending on what you’re trying to do. In other words, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some overlap like current professions have with their trait lines.
I don’t expect we’ll get too many, around five I’d guess, but that’s simply because of the comparison they made to healing and elite skill choices.
I just hope the remaining Legends feel a little more Legendary. This is a great chance to introduce new fans to some of the iconic heroes of Guild Wars’ past. Mallyx wasn’t even relevant to you if you played Guild Wars 1 if you weren’t hardcore (I had never heard of him until the PAX announcement), and he just looks like some beast. At the current rate, the Revenant won’t be the profession that channels old heroes to new players, it will be the profession that transforms into stone and shadowy beasts.
Rurik has to be there unless there’s a plot reason not to have him. Gwen was a popular character from the first game that would make a logical Legend. Shiro seems like a great choice as a memorable villain and someone who, lorewise and by the real world definition of the word, was a lot like a Revenant. Perhaps picking some legendary examples of each race would be a good idea too. Jora for Norn, Vekk for Asura. I personally would love to see Togo, but his last known state may or may not make that impossible.
What would be really cool is a Legend based off the Guild Wars 1 player character. It could use the Hall of Monuments to pick a name for players who have that, and just go for something based on our titles like “The Chosen” for people who don’t. Optimally, such a Legend would be different for each old profession, but that would be a lot of work and potentially cause you to prefer a version of the Legend that doesn’t match any past character. However, there is still one solution. The Legends change utility skills, not the weapon skills, so instead of making them profession based, the Legend could instead be based off of more universal feats we achieved. Things like Ascension, becoming Closer to the Stars, Lightbringer and Sunspear ranks, that were more tied to who we were in the story rather than our professions.

Considering your theory for the trait line as you described above and your theory that each Legend will be based on a single character from each Gw1 expansion.
The two Legends confirmed:
Jalis IronHammer (Rite of the Great Dwarf) for EOTN
Mallyx (The Unyielding) for Nightfall
Then yea it would be highly likely, in my opinion, that
Glint would be the Legend to represent Prophecies and Shiro Tagachi for Factions.
Glint (The Keeper of the Flameseeker Prophecies) for Prophecies
Shiro Tagachi (The Harbringer of the Deceiver) for Factions
The reason why I’ll speculate that Shiro would be the most likely candidate to become a Legend is that he is literally, with the two exceptions being The Lich and Jalis, to appear in two expansions, Factions and Nightfall, and seem to have some form of impact related to Abaddon as do Mallyx the same way Jalis and Glint are associated with the Elder dragons. Therefore Shiro’s connection to the mist is solidified. The reason why I will not state the Lich being a Legend is because Glint, especially with Caithe hiding the dragon egg somewhere in the Magumma Jungle, seems to be the most iconic figure of the two considering the Lich sole goal was to become the Flameseeker from “Glints Prophecy”. I wouldn’t count Rurik considering he had been converted into an undead minion by the “Lich himself”. So with that said Glint would be the highest on the totem pole for Prophecies literally. Now back to Shiro who’s actions were manipulated by the fortune teller, whom was a spirit in disguise that followed Abaddon, caused all of the catastrophe’s revolving around factions. Not only did Shiro assassinate the previous emperor Angsiyan; consuming his soul in the process, but from Shiro’s death, not Angsiyan; at the hands of two champions who could easily pass as Legends from two warring factions Kurzick’s: Viktor and Luxon’s: Archemorus with the help of a third Legend Vizu who nearly sliced Shiro in half, resulted in the formation of the Jade sea and the stonification? of the Escovald Forest. Instead of being sent to the mist indefinitely to be imprisoned for eternity he became an Envoy thanks to Suun (The Oracle of the Mist), created the Afflicted, “killed Togo”, and was released by Abaddon to become one of his generals.
In terms of factions Shiro is so high on the Totem pole of being a legendary figure it’s not even funny.
In terms of Togo, and i’m not saying that he doesn’t have a chance of being or becoming a Legend for the Revenant, it just that, in my opinion, he seems to be too Canthan focused… So yea i can see him becoming one when a Cantha expansion arrive but not before…
The reason why Anet, in my opinon, chose Mallyx as a Legend is because of three things in terms of hierarchy he’d likely to be second in command to Abaddon; the big bad behind many of the events in Gw1, similar to how The Great Destroyer is to Primordous; one of the big bads in Gw2, he’s keeping his foothold in the realm of torment despite the efforts of Kormir, and last but not least he’s considered as being an elite boss.
The reason why Jalis IronHammer would be considered a Legend by Anet, in my opinon, is because of the Tome of the Rubicon that was created by the Great Dwarf before the Human God’s including Dwayna had existed warning of the existence of The Great Destroyer depicted in Gw1, yet having no knowledge of the six Elder Dragons. So yea Jalis is an official iconic figure in his own right because he fulfilled one of the prophecies of the Great Dwarf himself by fighting against and warning everyone of the upcoming threat.
Anyway i really do hope there are at-least five legends to add more diversity, four seems a tad bit too limited.

Youre right, this definitely is:
As mentioned before we know about two available legends, Jalis and Mallyx, both of which are form different campaigns. Jalis is a character form prophecie (he did appearin EoTN but he was a bigger characterin Prophecies) and Mallyx is from Nightfall. This makes me think that we will get 1 character from each release as a hero, and since based on trait lines we will get 4 legends, they will balance on 2 Villains/2 Heroes.
While they will probably see to have some variety in their group of legends, they certainly will not make it dependant on the number of GW1 parts.
When the legends are related to the traitlines, i think 4,5,8,10 are themost likely numbers of legends. Depends on wheter or not the class traitline will have a legend aswell. I mean, Ele doesnt have an Arcane attunement either.
4 or 5 would mean that the revenant only has 12-15 utility skills, which really isnt much in my opinion. Right now all classes have far more and the expansion will most likely add some.
The number of heal/elite skills would suggest 4 or 5, but i think the expansion mgiht add some of those too..
So i expect there to be 8 legends, which each traitline having two legends tied to it. Cause 4 isnt enough, 5 is unlikely and 10 is too much.
With the known and obvious ones out of the way (Jalis, Mallyx, Glint), i think we may see:
-Jora: As slayer of Svanir, she plays a very important role and it’s one of the few norn (the legends cant all be humans) that could be a legend. Asgeir might be possible too, but i dont think it’s going to be him.
-A charr. Pyre Fierceshot, i think. He never struck my as one of the important heroes of GW1, but he started the Rebellion and the charr still live by his words ‘there are no gods for the charr’. Kalla Scorchrazor might also be an option.
-Shiro Tagachi. For the reason you mentioned, OP. It’s also a bad guy and if we want to keep the balance of good/bad legends, we need more of those.
-Vizu: Alternatively, if it isnt Shiro, then Vizu could be the ‘factions legend’.
-Turai Ossa, the Ghostly Hero: THE legend of GW1 pvp and plays a role in the first ascension in the Guild Wars 1 games. Also got recently featured in the Living Story.
-Ventari for the salads? Dunno what else to choose here.
Legends that i find unlikely:
-Gwen: at least i hope not. Annoying, immature, childish kitten with anger issues. And if you include her, you might aswell include all kinds of companions like Eve, Livia, Cynn, Mhenlo etc.. Also, imagine Rytlock, the very first Revenant, channeling Logan Runaway’s ancestor.
-Svanir: very important bad guy. But while Mallyx as servant of Abaddon is fine in my book, i somehow doubt that we will be able to channel/invoke/whatever the legends of dragon minions.
-Palawa Joko: is great, but this guy is still…not alive, but active.
-Verata: would be cool, but not important enough
-Kilroy Stonekin: I would love to have him as a legend. Really uncertain about him, to be honest. Hes definitely legendary, but also not that important for the lore of Guild Wars.
Gwen was a popular character from the first game that would make a logical Legend.
Popular mostly because there were only two Mesmer heroes for a long time. And mesmers were just broken in GW1.

I’m not someone who knows GW1 very well, were Jalis and Mallyx obvious choices for legends if you hadn’t known it’s them?
To me it seems those are rather sidecharacters who have been chosen to become Revenant legends. Because of that I think we won’t see Shiro as legend. Correct me if I’m wrong, please.
