I am a veteran player, having played since launch with intermittent breaks. I, like most other players have at least read all the debate and uproar currently happening. My biggest issue isn’t the price tag, that’s their right to set. It isn’t the inclusion of the base game because the game has been out for three years its value has depreciated. My biggest concern at this point in time is they haven’t revealed enough to make me want to prepurchase. I’m not going to skip out on the expansion. I will play it like most other people. I’m also not going to rage about them including the game because it helps the community grow and make it easier for them to create content moving forward. I think arenanets biggest mistake to this point is trying to sell prepurchase on hype alone. We have no promises of how many zones, no idea of the new challenging group content. Heck, I still don’t even know what my mains elite specialization will be. I really feel like if they had waited to give us more info and showed us this nice, beautiful, massive expansion instead of bits and pieces, this lash wouldn’t have been as severe. But at this point, players feel like they are being ripped by not enough content plus being charged for the base game. I have no problem with them including it. I just think they should’ve held off on the prepurchase release until they confirmed a more stuff about the expansion. I’m also very curious to see a red post on all of the fiasco going on. I think how they handle their desicion making this next week will be extremely important to soothing players.

the lack of new content in the new expansion is the only argument I can get behind in the whole craziness that has ensued these last days around here.
but again, prepurchases are usually done pretty much with not enough info. I just hope they will in fact add enough content to justify it.

I feel the same. I just want more info before I buy. I like this idea of the deal with the game included because it makes it much easier to get my friends to try playing as well as it will revitalize the player base.

I agree with the OP. I would suggest that not including a character slot in an expansion for which a significant selling point is a new class is a bit off IMO. It comes across as a form of hidden charge to require additional expenditure to use a feature of a paid expansion.

Not a huge deal, just a little off.

Yea, I assumed they would. I don’t understand that choice, but I definitely don’t feel like they are nickel and dining us by including the game. It would’ve been $50 either way. Just more expensive for new players. That’s a barrier to the community growing.
