I’m currently trying to complete the ‘A Study In Gold’ achievement but I am having difficulty in tracking down the last tablets in my list:

*- Southgate: Tucked Away Southwest found thanks to someone in the map
*- Northgate: Where We Lay Our Masks To Rest (in the adventure area)

- Westgate: The Way Has Decayed Unless You Fly
- Luminate’s Throne: The Jungle Grows Even Up Here
- Trial Rooms: Heavy Foliage Hides This One

Anyone know how to find these?

Thanks!!

- Westgate: The Way Has Decayed Unless You Fly
It’s a cave nestled into the side of the main westgate building thing. From Forgotten city waypoint, go to the west plaza. Stand in the center of the golden circle on the floor in the west plaza, facing the direction of the teleporter that brings you up to the city’s west exit (aka facing west). Now pane your camera up until it’s looking over top of the arch/door where the teleporter is. Now look about 40 degrees to your right. See the the 4 fires? see the stone platform above them? That’s where you want to go. Be original, use your glider.

- Luminate’s Throne: The Jungle Grows Even Up Here
Enter the city through west gate, go down the stair, take a right, go down the stair. You’re in a room with a bunch of pillars, on the right side you’ll find a bouncy mushroom. Take the mushrooms up and you’ll find yourself in a hallway, go through the hall and up the first flight of stairs. Turn to your left, you’ll see some foliage/bushes in the corner. It’s behind there.

- Trial Rooms: Heavy Foliage Hides This One
In the underground section of the city, there’s a closed door. After a successful octovine run, the door opens. Should be pretty easy to find once you’re in there. Don’t take your time though, it kicks you out after 5 or so minutes.

The Southgate: You’ll Only Be Able To Reach … is very awkward. I actually found a Reddit entry on that one with a method that can’t be considered the proper way. :P

When I was up there and looked around I couldn’t find any other way to reach it though…

On Reddit:
Don’t need any gliding masteries except the first one for this.

Start at Luminous Throne, glide southwards around the bend to a small ledge. Wait for gliding endurance to come back.
Glide south to the next tower. Wait a few seconds again.
Glide south to the next tower, notice the green ledge on the right (west), on top of that is the box.. Wait a few seconds again.
Glide to the next tower. Put your character as far west as possible on your current tower.
Log out, log back in… and you’re where you want to be.

A thought just hit me while trying to get that particular point (and failing quite a few times). Perhaps ANet intended for you to have Mastery 3 in Gliding (the no endurance cost). Because I can imagine that you could just jump out the Luminous Throne and glide straight to the ledge with the torch instead of having to go from platform to platform and then use the logout-login trick.

Made a screenshot to show which ledge I mean.

But this wouldn’t work with just basic gliding as I can never retain the altitude when having to glide from platform to platform and for a straight line you’d be out of endurance before you reach it.

Hope this helps!

It also doesn’t work with lean techniques. And The logout method is not working anymore.

Sorry for bump, but in case folks still pop their eyeballs into this thread (it comes up at the top of Google search results for me when I search for “southgate very high up gw2” so maybe this’ll be of help if you come across this thread):

The “Southgate: You’ll Only Be Able to Reach This from Very High Up” (#12) tablet is accessible with the third tier of gliding (Lean Techniques). I still think there’s an outside chance it’s reachable without leaning, but I keep missing by a couple of feet.

It’s a very close shave. Or was for me, at least. Similar to the first part of the Reddit thingie Aveneo quoted above, I:

1) Went up to the Luminate’s Throne (by way of Westgate plus bouncing mushrooms)

2) Ran past the mastery point, leapt out from the right side of the ledge, began gliding, and curled around the mountain face to the right (without leaning forward/back)

3) Landed on the small ledge that protrudes from the mountain face (see first attachment) — though it’s technically possible to glide past this and on to the next area, but you need to glide pretty much perfectly from the Luminate’s Throne to do so (or, well, unless you have uber-gliding with the ultra endurance) and waited for endurance to recover

4) Glided from the small ledge over to the top of the nearest tower (still without leaning forward/back) — the one you can see just to the right of Aveneo’s right wingtip in the screenshot he attached two posts above this one — and waited for endurance to recover

5) Ran and jumped from the upper corner of the tower roof (see attachment #2), opened wings at peak of jump, and immediately leaned forward to accelerate

6) Curved very slightly right and then aimed at the left corner of the gnarled-wood ledge that’s just to the right of the oncoming tower (see attachment #3), leaning forward the whole time; it’s important here to be very efficient with your movements

7) Once landed, ran around the tower to the left, and the world was a happy place

Hope the screenies are sufficient. If not lemme know and I can try to make up more helpful ones.

The logout method does work, I just watched dulfy’s video and stood where she did and it worked. It confused me and I still don’t know what’s going on, but it takes you right to the chest.
