I haven’t mastered all the HoT meta events. But, I do know that DS and TD have metas that start at prescribed times. So does Tequatl. Somehow ANET doesn’t remember because they keep setting up new builds moments before meta occurs.

I get that its not really a problem, per se. You get an hour before you get kicked to the new build. But, we have a lot of new players who don’t get it. 3x now I have been on an organized map, at Tier 4, and 10 min before meta the new build notice. And the newbs log off five seconds before chat starts screaming to stay put.

ANET, please be a bit more aware of meta event times. Its very frustrating.

They have to patch sometime. With the staggered metas, it’s unlikely they can find a time to patch when they don’t interrupt one.

So they’re supposed to let bugs that crash the servers and break the game remain in just so you can do the meta?

Personally, I’d rather miss out on one cycle of the meta to not risk getting to 2 minutes before the meta ends and crashing. Because maybe, just maybe, this is the patch that solves the DC’ing in DS.

I get what you’re saying. I just had what seemed like 3 days in a row of getting “new build” right at the start of what I had been working on for a while, oh and once with Teq. When frustration mounts, yell on the forums. It made me feel better.

There is always meta going on or starting on some map. They patch at their morning hours so they get full workday to monitor new bugs.

Solution is simple (and the mechanic for it already exists, so no need for big changes). If there’s an ingame meta that takes up to 2 hours to complete, increase the forced restart timer for open world from 1 hour to over 2.
And if you don’t want to increase those timers, don’t create 2-hour long metas in the first place.

I posted a complaint about this several weeks ago and all Anet’s response was “we needed to patch” .. however, I noticed the patch this week had a THREE hour delay not the usual ONE so maybe they took my and others comments on board.

3 hours delays sounds like a good compromise to alllow people to finish what they are doing, before they are forced to update.

Were you in fractals, raid, or any other instance at the moment? 3 hours delay is the usual for those places, it’s only open world that has 1 hour.
(and yes, they should switch it to 3h as well)

This is one of the reasons they listed for moving wvw reset to Saturday. Patches seem to hit anywhere between 8:30 -10 on Friday reset alot of times, forcing hundreds of people from each server offline and in some cases not being able to reenter after update. There were complaints of course, as a result there’s now a new reset day which garnered more complaints. Long story short be careful what you complain about.
