Will we have a new character select?
I’d love that. More like the one in EoTN where you could watch yourself from different angles.
The Charr is still huuuuuge, plz fix after 3 yrs.
I’ve always found it strange that a game with eight professions has a limit of seven viewable character windows…
I also miss the old rewards panel being the default instead of the dailies. If they must have the achievements on display, I’d like to be able to have one set on the right, and the other on the left.
Charr are almost as big as norn, when compared side-by-side, so I don’t feel this out of place.
I don’t know if they will add a new character select screen. I remember way back when GW1 was first released. The characters were all gathered around a campfire, and would step forward when selected. At Cantha’s release, that’s when a new panoramic of the Canthan landscape was revealed. Another reason for the change was that there was only a maximum of 4 characters initially. When Factions included a bonus 2 character slots for accounts with Prophesies, the character select screen had to change.
The way the character screen is currently, there’s a vague, generic background. Behind the character portrait also depicts which part of the world s/he is in. I don’t see the need for a change, unless there will be a mastery achievement tab added.

What do you mean by different angles? You can spin characters in the current select, just click on them and drag left/right. You can’t tilt up and down, though, and your toes will always be covered even if you toggled off the UI.
i woul actually like a search function or something where we can sort our characters
some of us (i know first world problems…) who have… “a couple of character slots” sometimes have problems finding the sylvari ranger inbetween the pages of rangers sylvari other classes etc…
porlby not a very high priority.. just saying.. it would be nice^^
If it can be done without increasing load time on the screen, I would enable some in-game features for character selection. Namely the hero panel, inventory, BLTC, and map.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve logged fully into a series of characters to try and remember which one had a certain item, or build, or crafting profession.
And buying on the BLTC could certainly be useful outside of a logged in state for people who just want to check some prices quick. Not to mention the convenience of buying a new character slot or other account perk from a place that’s contextually appropriate.
As for the map, just think of how awesome it would be to select a waypoint and log in directly to where you want to go, instead of having to load up a whole map you don’t want just because it’s where you left off. You would still pay the waypoint fee, but save on time and server bandwidth.
