Can anyone confirm if there will be any fundamental changes to the way legendary weapons are crafted.
I.e. do you still need gift of mastery, gift of fortune, gift of XXXX and precursor? or will the gifts of mastery and fortune be replaced with something else?
I have tried searching this forum but for what ever reason my search function doesn’t work.

No an kin cement on it yet as far as I’m aware but I’m very curious. Kind of in a state of limbo at the moment

No one knows. ANet hasn’t given any specifics. Anyone claiming to know anything about it is lying.

Well obviously since precursor crafting is coming, you will definitely still need a precursor.
I also fully expect the original GW2 Legendary’s to have the exact same recipes as before, you’ll just have the option to do a long quest to unlock a recipe to craft a precursor.
As for the new ones, in the article on dulfy, they mentioned that they would make the new ones “similar to precursor crafting in that they will feel more like a journey”, which is pretty vague, but it could indicate that the new, but not old legendary’s will ahve a fundamentally different system of crafting it.
one dev said that just the way we get the precursor has changed
another one mentioned that the crafting of the legendary itself will feel more like a hunt
so two different opinions
it could mean, that for old legendarys nothing changes, but for the new ones.
i think, what is just speculation, that we get a new gift of exploration for HoT maps, because it sounds it needs much more effort to complete a map, than before (we need mastery points to be able to reach some PoI and so on)
And it could be that the weapons specific gifts use new materials wie just see as a ? in beta tests
Having been a paying customer of anet since they formed, i can just imagine the cost of materials to craft a precursor will be. not to mention time-gated nonsense they will implement. If i had to guess, the ‘legendary’ itself will still cost an obscene amount of materials, plus the crafted precursor. Only now, the precursor, rather than being an insanely low drop (or high price on TP), it will cost an obscene amount of materials to craft in its own right.
So your looking at twice the materials/time-gated crap to craft both the precursors and the legendary. Hope i’m wrong, but i’m pretty sure Anet wont want folks making all the legendaries within 2-3 days of HoT release. And they know we are all hoarding mats right now leading up to the release..
And they do not want to ‘alter the market’ either. So legendaries will still be something for the folks who live 24×7 in the game, and the little people will take months/yrs to be able to craft one, or pay the other folks the ‘priviledge’ of using one… Thats life in this “non grinding” game…

As far as I know all I’ve heard is that the precursor will be obtainable through that precursor hunt thing. I don’t think they’re changing the other components.
It will be interesting though to see how we obtain the bloodstone shard for one of the gifts, being as skill points are being removed.
I made 4 gifts of mastery a few months ago so I guess I won’t have to worry about obtaining the bloodstone shards that currently cost 200 skillpoints each, but we don’t know how we’ll get them and what they’ll cost in terms of currency (could be gold and/or karma maybe?), after skillpoints are removed. Something to keep in mind anyway.

We know exactly how the skill point problem is being overcome. Skill points and skill point scrolls are being converted into a new currency that will, among other things, be used for buying mystic forge materials.
And why would you assume the precursor will just be made out of stacks of regular materials? I’m 95% sure that it’ll be much more akin to the Luminescent set or Mawdrey, that will require collection items that you have to go out into the world to do specific things for.

They said beside precursor rest remain pretty much same so I think you are safe to prepair general legendary stuff like 77 clovers and stack of every T6:-P

No one can confirm or deny this, though there has been no mention of legendary crafting getting changed.
Now if you were refering to precursor crafting (essentially a part of crafting your legendary), then yes, that will get implemented but no one knows how and to what extent available materials will be used.
Current best assumptions are that legendarys will still require the mystic forge and:
- 1 precursor
- 3 gifts

My guess is there could be new recipes for them – gift of stealth, unicorne statue, ect will be for the old ones. I am still betting that we will need the clovers, gift of exploration, might, and magic. I think this because they do not like to disrupt the economy too much and if only the old legendary used all those high level mats it could disrupt the prices and it also creates a gold sink associated with the weapons. I also think the clovers will stay because it keeps the rng in the weapon.
It will be interesting though to see how we obtain the bloodstone shard for one of the gifts, being as skill points are being removed.
Wondering the same as the OP, especially about the Bloodstone Shard. I lack other materials but I have 200 skill points; wondering if I should buy the shard now or wait until things change.

I’m preparing myself for a huge time gated grind for the precursor… :/
Already got 3 gifts ready for bifrost but I’m not going to buy the legend right now.
