New Music for HoT?
Thankfully Soule will not be making the soundtrack for the expansion.
Maclaine Diemer and Leif Chapelle are the current composers.

Oh cool! I didn’t consider that anyone else might have worked on the game before.
Now that I’m looking those two up, it seems like their music is a lot more up beat and rhythmic rather than the grand sweeping orchestral of Soule. I think that is just what the game needs. It’s hard to identify with some of Soule’s stuff because they don’t have much of a tune to follow.
Jeremy Soule’s original soundtrack is excellent. It’s too bad there won’t be more tracks from him for HoT. Looking forward to what the new composers have to offer.

I’m not disappointed by this. Jeremy Soule has a definite style he has trouble deviating from….. and if Nightfall was any example, he has difficulty with Primal/Tribal style music. NF definitely didn’t have the kind of impact Prophecies had. Factions soundtrack, I feel, only worked because of tonal similarities with oriental instruments that allowed for his signature sweeping strings.
With Magumma being a jungle, and its popculture tendency for tribal drums and chants, I wouldn’t trust Soule to hit a home run with it. I can’t speak for the other Brother (Julian), as I believe his involvement made the GW2 tracks much stronger.

What??? Soule’s soundtrack is extremely melodic… how is there no “tune” to follow?
Soule’s soundtrack is almost all the same. I have trouble when hearing random snippets with associating them with a game location. I like it fine, I have the 4 cd’s and all, but Diemer and Chappelle have far more soul in their work (pun intended); they care about the game and it shows.
