I’d really like this answered by the devs. The new legendary crafting system is a great way to create legendaries but im wondering are the new precursor / preprecursors going to be ascended or are they going to retain exotic status like the vanilla precursors?

By virtue of Ascended being account bound, they’d had to be exotic in order to meet 2 criteria they’ve talked about.
1. You can sell the precursor once created…. this means it has to be exotic, as ascended gear is account bound by design, and existing pres need to remain tradable.
2. Exotics can be made account bound without being soul bound. Leveling armor being an example of this in game.
From there the process for legendary is identical, so theres no potential room to make them ascended.
The new pre-cursers and new legendaries are not going to be tradeable, that is confirmed. So it is possible for the new pre-cursors to be ascended instead of Exotic. However, I don’t think it would be likely they would do that. There just doesn’t seem to be any real point to it.
