New profession weapons
To clarify it seems you need to firstly enter a specialisation before you get access to these weapons, for example the ranger must specialise in druidism to be able to use a staff
Revenant: Lowbong, sword, hammer
err?
Pretty sure Revenant will have spear. Check out 1:35-1:39 in the trailer.
I’m pretty sure those are limited to secondary profession which changes all skills.

Does he draw from his “lowbong” for power?
NSP
If you’re talking about the red concept art, that looks like a sword to me…
No, it’s definately a Lowbong.
‘lowbongs’ aside, this implies to me that there’s a new mesmer mainhand as well.
Mesmers already have the fewest skills to use of any profession in the game (not counting Revenants, since they don’t even exist yet), so it’s unlikely that they’d be shafted by getting only two added. Especially when one of the skills on a mesmer would presumably be a phantasm, meaning that that ageing spell is effectively the only skill on the weapon.
Wait… a profession that already makes extensive use of spatial and temporal distortions and getting what I presume is, lore-wise, an ageing field. We get to be chronomancers?
OK so there is a thief with a rifle in the trailer https://heartofthorns.guildwars2.com/en at 1:08
it looks like he is wearing medium armour and has a thief mask on. We know engineer are using hammer and ranger will be using the staff. So its only leave the thief in the medium armour left as a option.
i hope they rework some weapons like guardian shield
guardians get pistol pew pew pew because they have most of useless weapons why not a pistol too :P

I think that’s a sword. Look just above his hand. To me that looks like a crossguard.

Please give us a keyring…
Here’s a question that all Necros want to know the answer to:
Do we get the same Greatsword auto-attack that Majory has?
I may very well be wrong, but I interpreted this specialization system and new weapon type unlocking to have OPTIONS.
All the new weapons mentioned above are probably right, but I don’t think those will be the only new weapons available to each profession. I’d imagine, for the sake of variety and customization, there would be at least 2-3 different specialization paths for each profession, each one giving access to a different weapon, previously unusable to that class. The ones shown so far are only sneak-peaks, I’d hope.

I think you are right, removed longbow for now. can’t believe I missed that typo not once but twice lol. I was riding along too fast on the hype train.

Honestly, I’ll be kind of disappointed if they don’t introduce ‘lowbongs’ for the expansion now. :P
Although after discovering that my guardian was voiced by Commander Shepard, I’m already disappointed that she doesn’t say “this is my favourite store in the citadel” after finishing dialogue with a vendor in the charr home city.
Tangents aside, assuming that I’m right that the mesmer specialisation will also get a mainhand to complement their shields, I’m guessing that that will be pistol. Or maybe the specialisation will be the “chronomasticator” and their new weapon will be their own teeth.
To clarify it seems you need to firstly enter a specialisation before you get access to these weapons, for example the ranger must specialise in druidism to be able to use a staff
so I wonder..are there more specialisations per class?
I dont want a nreco greatsword =.=
__
well I suppose if not now, with time there will be… wonder the balancing changes this will bring about xd
As I understand it, taking on a specialisation changes your profession mechanic and rewrites whole swathes of your skill list. They’re basically entirely new classes with the ability to borrow certain skills from their baseline professions.
So chronomasticators probably won’t use illusions, for example.

I still see this as an engineer, as they have medium gear. It could also be a ranger. They said their introducing specializations, with an S. It wouldn’t make sense to only make one specialization for each profession, cause then there’s no choice. And while they’ve confirmed no more than one new weapon per class as part of these specializations, that’s not to say there couldn’t be one new weapon PER specialization. Again, this would make the whole premise of choice more significant. Just my opinion, though.
Just give me a Longbow for my Guardian, that is all. I have waited for too long!
KAMOHOALI’I KOTAKI about to sky rocket
The incarnate armour girl at 1:15 – 1:18 appears to be wielding a sword and an off-hand dagger, which isn’t presently legal for any scholar profession.
This most likely means MH swords for eles, although it could also mean MH swords for necros or OH daggers for mesmers.

I already finished my 6th legendary the spear and I am hyped after seeing Rytlok use a spear as a two handed weapon on land <3
If that comes to pass there will be sharks galore

If that is a sword the Revenant is using in the art, it’s off-hand. He’s holding it in his left.
i hope they rework some weapons like guardian shield
That would be most welcome. I loathe that the guardian’s shield plays like a focus and the focus plays like a shield.
