That’s cool! It does look like WvWers can’t prestock up the points this week unless they do it the old fashioned way but they’ll at least have the option come HoT.

Also of interest more generally:

“Combining 1 proof and 30 Badges of Honor yields 1 Notarized Scroll of Heroics.
Combining 5 proofs and 150 Badges of Honor yields 1 Notarized Scroll of Maguuma Heroics.”

So there will be hero challenges in the HoT areas. Which might in fact mean that the datamined 250 points for full elite unlock is accurate, alas.

Ugh .. all I have to say.. just Ugh

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Is it retroactive?
Or us veterand are going to be cut out of this because we have a higher rank harder to increase?

I may be wrong, but don’t you earn a rank every 5,000 points, for every rank?

Aren’t all ranks, after maybe the first 5, acquired with the same amount of WXP?

Ok so:
liquid XP will be converted into x minutes boost.
Dailies will give an auto-consuming all around boost.

And what about current daily chests?
If I have some chests (yellow and orange) in my backpack, what will happen to them?

first 5 tanke 5 times less effort.
however veteran players have many characters to farm hero points one. I hope they don’t waste the chance to give a way to farm them more easily to the people who need it most.

New players don’t have a character at lv 80 anyway. And free players can’t even access wvw until lv 60.

World points are account bound, not character bound, or am i not understanding what your saying?

World Hero Challenges are character bound. World Mastery Points are account bound.

But it’s the Hero Challenges people need to do for Hero Points to spend on traits and skills that are under discussion here.

I don’t see it as a problem either (then again I don’t WvW). But I think the issue is that if you don’t have any WvW ranks, you can get your first few random HP five times faster than if you’ve already ranked up.

I dunno, I think that even the most dedicated WvWer could likely just go grab five HP in PvE in maybe fifteen minutes if that, which should be faster than a neophyte WvWer could gain five ranks.

To get 5 HP in PvE will take less time, hit the starer zones, if there is a mob 1 shot it. Depending on the day and the activity those first 5 WvW levels could take longer than PvE, not a great deal longer but you need to take the enemy into account for WvW. Not to mention the dead servers that have no one to fight or may already own everything so their WvW levels are at a stand still.

Implied: Maguuma has its own type of HP, so we all start at 0. Old HP can’t be used to unlock elite epecs.

Nothing they’ve said so far implies that to me. There are currently ~200 core game hero points that aren’t required for core specs, and 250 has been datamined as the likely cost to unlock an elite spec & its skins. That implies to me that there will be ~50 hero points in Maguuma to make up the difference.

I don’t get that implied meaning from the blog. Only that Maguuma will have more HPs in which to go hunt down (or earn via wvw if you so choose). Since people are leaning towards the 250 HPs mark to fully unlock the elite line (traits, skills, skins, etc), I highly doubt Maguuma has 250 HP all it’s own. You’d be practically swimming in them if so.

Course, I could be wrong. I guess we’ll see.

Guess the other thread complaining about wvwers not being able to get hp strictly in wvw just became moot.

(1) " The vendor sells new consumables called Notarized Scrolls of Heroics and Notarized Scrolls of Maguuma Heroics"

(2) "In the interest of fairness to PvE players, we didn’t want to allow any WvW players who may have been stockpiling liquid world experience to instantly rank up a bunch of times and immediately begin unlocking the new expansion hero challenges the moment the expansion released. "

I.e. (1) They are different; and (2) PvE players will NOT be able to instantly rank up HoT challenges.

Um…doesn’t it say WvW players won’t be able to instantly rank up?

I am not sure either of those statements indicates we can not use Hero Points for Elite Specializations. Just that Hero Points will come from two different places; Core Tyria and Heart of Maguuma. The cost difference may only be to entice players to purchase HoT and/or visit those maps.

I suppose we will find out very soon.
