Next week: Guild Halls!
So am i out of the loop or have we really heard nothing regarding guild halls? There still is mention of guild halls on the gw2 hot site, but I haven’t come across any word about the progress or features regarding them. If I did miss information, would someone be able to share sauce (source)?
Playing since gw1 release, I’ve been beyond eager to see guild halls hit this game. If done right I think it can really take gw2 to the next level. Hope they arent forgetting about this much wanted and needed content, otherwise we will have to stop calling it guild wars!
We know that they will be part of HoT. So you’re as in the loop as anyone else.
Anet is releasing info in stages, not all at once. They haven’t covered challenging content or guild halls yet at all.
Oh good. I hope there’s either enough content within Guild Halls to host your info exclusively about it, or they also reveal a lot more at E3 too.
What if i dont have a guild? Am i doomed?!

but seriously, you might be able to benefit from it to some degree even if you have a personal guild with no one in it but you.

I dont think so. Look at guild missions which kinda sux. #doom4evar
Just read another post where Anet is revealing halls on the 16th.

Article is up. Streaming live on Twitch from E3. Here’s the link.

Some of us think guild missions do not suck.
If you think bounties suck. Solo one

Yup. I want to hope for a lot of concrete info, but I highly doubt it. Colin has a habit of being extremely wordy, vague, and skirting the question.

But I’m sure there will be a couple of very pretty pictures.

By sux i mean its nearly impossible to do em solo. Looking at you JP.

I sure hope so. I hope we can get a basic guild hall with minimal effort, and leave the big shiny stuff to the large guilds.
I’m glad my little four person family guild can at least afford to build the guild vaults, though we’ll never do a guild mission. I hope guild halls function similarly.
I’m hoping this is tied in with the new raids or “challenging group content”.
Combine that with the condition changes and this is shaping up to be a great month for GW2.
Have faith, maybe we’ll see what we can expect from Guild Halls. :>

Depends on how long Colin gets to talk. He could have only like 10 minutes to talk. The pcgamer show website doesn’t give any information about how its going to be run (other than it’ll be streamed on twitch).

“AuroraPeachy, BogOtter, MMOInks, and DocGotGame will be hosting the show from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Pacific Time” sounds like more than ten minutes. Though I suppose it could all be fluff filler around that — but I’m expecting at least 45 minutes from Colin to support 1.5 hours of Twitch.
happy dance
Guild Halls and Colin Johanson great descriptions whats not to get excited about.
Well its E3 and with those prepurchchase what was datamined I am pretty sure they also announce release date there.

Me neither. The problem is just that ANet isn’t producing enough regular and varied content for them.

It would be pretty bad if at E3 they literally only have a 3 minute presentation for the guild halls (in this corner you can do Y, in that corner X, etc.). Giving a hint at this organised group content in how / if it can fit into Guild Halls would be nice.

Or 10 minute presentation and 35 minutes of Colin smiling :P
This had better not be “he’s name is druid, uses the staff, k, tnx, bye” type of announcement. Me and guildie are busting our kitten building up 2 man guild for our own guildhall, they better be kitten concrete about what we can do with those halls of ours:>
Hmm, I hope the new system will significantly improve the game and actually give the palyers also a good incentive to be part of a guild.
I have since game release just my own one man guild, just cause of the little advantage of having more space to bunker in my items.
The current guild buffs that you can get are ridiculously too low, to be any incentive to get into a guild. the grind behind the guild missions is also not very incenting to be in a guild, just only for a half handful of boring ugly multi color golem minis and some ugly boring guild weapon/armor skins that you can’t customize alot more to make them look also more guild unique for you, other than only the guild emblem, which currently is also extremely limited in its versatility and hasn’t seen in the 3 years of GW2 existance 1 single improvement with added new emblems, more colors ect. pp
The current expansion lines of the guilds seriously need a complete overwork, as like also the whole system behind it, that works like a silly browsergame with ridiculous logn waiting time,s that become each tiem you progress needlessly progressively much longer (whats that for a BS, are we playing a MMORPG, or a browsergame like Ogame??? )
I hope we will see some significant long term mechanics bonded to the Guild Hall System, that allows it a guild to expand alot more and better and this also visually, so that you can expand your head quarter as a guild from a simple guild hall to a guild fortress to a guild castle to a guild vilage to finally a guild town on your own chooseable floating guild island instance which will be accessable then through the mists.
Being part of a guild and playing especially together with guild members should feel rewarding, so that peopel actually want to sozialize with their guild members often and prefer to play with them together as often as possible, than to use Pugs.
Guild Missions were one step in the right direction.
I hope as challengign group content via raids gets bonded together with the guild system too.
Something like “Guild Crusades” would be an awesome addition as group challenging raid content for Guilds as a higher form of Guild Missions..
Can’t await the next week
Given how much Colin was visibly busting at the seams wanting to talk about guild halls in post PAX interviews, I believe we’ll get a lot of info on Tuesday. Time for me to plan ways to get out of Tuesday movie night!
I cheered when I saw the news

Thing is, the PCGamer show is only from 6-8, with all those other developers (20 participants, so far). So I doubt Colin will get that much time, maybe 20 minutes max (if other ones are really short).

ANET is only going to have a portion of that time, with other big names like XBox, SquEnix and so many more. 10 – 15 minutes should be enough for us to get a first look.
Keep in mind this event is on Tuesday, while E3 runs for many more days. I expect we’ll have more detailed info the days after, or at least, Friday.
Ah, I didn’t realize how many others were sharing the 1.5 hours. On the other hand, if ANet has room to have three streamers host (even if they host in concert rather than sequentially), it could be they’ll split off from PCGamer to continue their own feed?
But yeah, that does sound like a smaller presentation window than I’d first thought.
Heh, the timing of this post with that update… Fingers crossed its everything we hope it to be.
Hopefully they won’t only be pretty but they’ll have some GvG or Dueling integrated with some deeper community gameplay features.

Holy crap! You’re psychic! Quick, what else is coming!? Just let your mind flow, let it come to you! O.o
Anyone out there care to guess how much influence these bad boys are gonna run us?
Crystal Desert
Since I dont care for the halls, I dont care much how much they cost. In gw1 they were pretty cheap, I would be surprised if they changed that.
I imagine they will be relatively inexpensive to get, but to get a maxed-out GH will take insane levels of influence. They’re toting the horizontal progression still, so it would make sense that the GH is a way that your guild could “level up” per se, and that it wouldn’t happen all at once.
I hope they will cost merits. Gw2 really needs some merit sink.
They certainly won’t be using influence as a currency. That would be nuts. You can bet there’ll be some sort of unique currency for it. There was in Guild Wars 1 as well, though you could buy it with in game gold.
I hope they wont cost merits. Im in a small guild and we want a guild hall too.

In an ideal world the cost would scale to the size of the guild with some mins and maxes set.
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
+1 for u TheGrimm but we know this isnt a ideal world
