Rewards in general pretty much suck in HoT.
Didnt you recive an awesome yellow wyvern cache??? That amazing box(bag) contains all you need to know about HoT “loot”, filled with your essential gray spikes, talons, and broken fangs. Maybe if your lucky you’ll get a blue and a green

Yeah…frankly we should be getting yellows like candy in the open world and exotics from wiggly chests after events occasionally.
The reason people are annoyed and map chats across all servers are full of fed up people is, an expansion has expectations of loot, seeing as we had no level increase (a good thing) then loot should have become more plentiful to actually feel as though improvements were made.
Nerfing rewards from ANYTHING in order to try and push people where they want us to go is what is driving people away from the game. People want and expect rewards, rewards that are BETTER than what they used to get.

You do realize that if the game rewarded you with rares/exotics as much as you people are whining for that they would be just as worthless as blues and greens, their value is based on scarcity
Just giving away high tier loot all the time for these extremely easy and farmable events would just destroy the market and you would be right back where you started

Exotics are worthless. They aren’t BiS, they can be bought easily with other currencies that aren’t gold, the only thing they’re good for is salvage material or skins.
But yeah! I totally love getting a random blue item for killing a Legendary mob! Feels amazing!

Your prooving my point, the game has been out so long that exotics arnt even worth a whole lot because the EASE with which they can be obtained
And legendary mobs are just glorified champions, if these things droped ascended at a decent rate the entire player base would be decked out in full gear in a week, and if they dropped a substantial amount of gold, then it would just cause inflation to the point where that gold would have the same spending power as the 2 silver you get from that random blue currently.
This isnt a single player game where epic rewards can be given out like candy without impacting the game, there are thousands of players doing those same activities, if everyone is rich, then no-one is rich
Any other MMO gives out BiS items by playing content, not forcing everyone to grind out the money, materials and then the crafting specialization. Most require raids to be done for that level of gear, and I would find it fine if Anet decided to put ascended down as end game rewards (and they have, sort of) that can be earned by doing what some people like to do — running instances, defeating bosses, etc…
Running around and spending hours just grinding mobs to get enough silk to make a timegated piece of equipment is boring, dull and detrimental. Ascended isn’t some status symbol, it’s just the next tier of gear for people to obtain that takes almost as much gold and time invested as crafting a legendary, which is a tier above -that-.
Especially with groups likely requiring ascended to do things like Spirit Vale and the like; it’s an unncessary restriction and providing rewards to help players get into that gear set doesn’t hurt a thing with GW2. It just gears up more players so they can do more things at the full potential of their class.
Skins, wardrobe items, etc… fine, have those be hard grinds. But something with stats attached to it that increases your character’s effectiveness at what they do shouldn’t be a massive grind like this because some no lifers like to feel special.
I like playing the game for the adventure portion and playing with my friends but I would also like upgrades.
The issue I have is that the rewards don’t justify the effort.
For example I’ve finished the Personal Story, Heart and Minds on my Necromancer. I soloed it because getting groups for it is rather difficult and even several guild friends who tried it with me gave up on it because of the visual noise and not being sure what it was they needed to do exactly.
When I completed it successfully I received as a reward a piece of exotic armor which was no good for my profession, a 1handed broken Caladbolg (it’s always been a 2handed sword throughout the previous PS tracks, so it’s worthless to my Necro and an exotic rifle (also useless).
To say I was disappointed is an understatement.
After that experience I don’t log in much any more except to gather flax and try to justify my time spent in game.
I’ve raided a few times but the sheer expense of crafting the newer armor (Ministrel’s in this case for my Druid and Ele) is ridiculous. Freshwater Pearls are required for the insignia and the rings and unfortunately they have such a low drop rate that the price on the TP is anywhere from 4g 55s to 7g 55s EACH.
You need 3 Freshwater pearls to craft an insignia, so using the lowest price, that’s 15g (give or take) then the rings, trinkets and amulet require 5 Freshwater Pearls EACH, so that adds up to 125g for just those. Couple that with the armor and you have a total of 215g to craft one set.
Of course the Druid profession is broken atm since in order to heal at all, you have to do a decent amount of dps to activate Celestial Avatar, so I just keep my Druid in Berserker gear and off heal when needed.
Magi is a better alternative or even Nomad’s for my Aura Elementalist. In full Magi gear I kept an entire raid topped off and not dead (once we learned the mechanics).
Since Healing Power seems to have some issues currently (not scaling with gear) then it’s unlikely I’ll craft a Minstrel’s set anytime soon. Anet can either fix the Healing Power scaling and increase the drop rate for Freshwater Pearls or forget about it.
I simply don’t have the money (in game or otherwise) to spend all my in game time farming items to sell so that I can buy these overpriced items. I know it’s other players who are setting the prices, but why introduce a new armor set but give absurdly low drop rates on the items required to craft a set?
Oh I know why. Anet wants me to buy gems and convert it to gold. That won’t happen anytime soon because I’ve spent well over $500 these past few months and with the way things are currently in game, I can’t see the justification for spending anymore until the issues are addressed.
I’ve said my peace on this issue and if it’s ignored, well that’s fine. There are other MMO’s out there and thankfully my Guild plays those as well.
Frankly I’m rather burnt out on HoT already with the frustration I feel daily over the lack of decent drops.
I can understand not handing exotics out like candy, but how about something that won’t affect the economy at all but still give the player something to work towards?
How about account bound Outfits, miniatures or weapon skins?
They would only have value to the player who received them and since they cannot be sold they wouldn’t impact the economy in the least.
