As the title says… I have the following crafted:
Oiled Oricalchum Sword Hilt
Oiled Oricalchum Sword Blade
Marauder Oricalchum Imbued Inscription
Placed all of these in the “Discovery” but still 1 component is missing… Any ideas?
P.S. I tried Google, but can’t find the right answer. I only found this from the Patch Note:
Oiled weapon and armor components crafting recipes have been added.
To protect against the harsh jungle environment, new stat combos require an oil treatment.
All exotic components now have an oiled version that requires linseed oil to craft.
Example: Combine an oiled orichalcum sword blade, oiled orichalcum sword hilt, and trailblazer’s inscription to create a trailblazer’s sword.

not that it helps but I’m really wondering as well

I don’t know, it sounds like the 3 things should be enough. Maybe some random exotic level 80 sword? Though with the hilt and blade being made already, that would be silly.
I’ve read people saying that sometimes the Forge is finicky about what order you put the items in which boxes. Maybe try playing around with that, only in the Discovery Panel rather than the Forge.

maybe its like other weapons that require lodestones and they did add Mordrem Lodestones. Would that work?

you’re probably right… But it’s too expensive to try. Gonna wait for it to go cheaper before I create one. Thanks!

What are the oiled things for?

lol, I feel dumb now. Do the Meta on the 2nd map and you will get Viper recipes.
example:
Viper’s Pearl Broadsword:
-1 Viper’s Orichalcum Imbued Inscription
-1 Oiled Orichalcum Greatsword Blade
-1 Oiled Orichalcum Greatsword Hilt
Stats are:
Power -205
Cond Dam – 205
Precision – 113
Expertise – 113

I’m having the same problem too. Spent quite a fortune just to make the oiled materials for nothing. Tried 30 Destroyer Lodestones but still incompatible. I’m out of idea now. Can’t spend more on a wild goose chase experiment.

What is the difference of using Oiled and the regular ones? I don’t get why its so friggin hard to make the Oiled stuff.

Oiled components are used to make the Auric weapons, such as: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Auric_Shield or a few of the newer prefixes for the Pearl weapons, such as: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pearl_Shell (the last few at the bottom).
Note that not all items requiring oiled components have been added to the wiki, yet.

Which leads to the missing item: Exalted Sword Core

Yeah are you making an Auric sword? It looks like you need an exalted sword core and a recipe?
